1. Bono doesnt even remeber the lyrics of Streets sometimes, so I guess this isnt possible.

  2. Bono: "We don't know what we want to do next," he says. "It feels a bit like 1990, where we have to dig a very deep well. I'm very proud of our last album. It was very rich. I want to go airborne on the next one. But we have to have very good reasons to put out a new U2 album. There are 150 million of them out there. Why would anyone want another one? I don't know if it will be a year or five years."

Don't expect an encore, Edge says: "We can't do anything bigger than 360. You can't top it for sheer size and audacity."

Bono predicts the band will head indoors next time. "I wouldn't be surprised if we go out with one light bulb."

  4. I thought this quote was also interesting:

Earlier, he [Bono] was using an iPad with the Achtung Baby songs and videos on it. "That's probably what our new album will look like," he says. "I've been talking about this for the past four years."

"Our last album was the first album to be made available as an app with BlackBerry devices, but it didn't work: the functionality was not what it could have been. New formats are going to happen. I'm always banging on about this. The app format brings you back to that world of gatefold sleeves, of being able to read lyrics – and [now of] being able to play the album at home on your plasma TV."

Unlike most people who play their stuff (in mp3 formats) on handhelds, laptops, etc., I still play physical CDs, either in the car or on my DVD player/home cinema. This also means my TV is on which is why I love the NLOTH/Linear and often play live DVDs rather than the albums. It just makes sense to combine video with music and it's even better to incorporate interactive content.
  5. Adam Clayton was on BBC Radio 6Music this morning, mainly talking about Achtung Baby, but he and Huey Morgan did touch upon the future:

Huey: "What's going on with you guy's at the moment?"

Adam: "Well, um, you know we had hoped we'd have a new record out, but, just in terms of what happened with the tour and what everyone kind of felt like doing at the end of the tour we hadn't kind of finished that up. But we're still working on it and I think we'll be back...back at it proper you know, the first of the new year..."

Huey: "Working with the same team, Brian and Daniel?"

Adam: "Erm...no, we're actually working with Danger Mouse."

Huey: "Oh really? Cool. He's on top of the game, yeah"

Adam: "Yeah, he's a really good guy and he reminds us a lot of Brian and Danny sort of when we were making those experimental records 'cause he's kind of got...different ears. He's very creative. I mean, he's, well a drummer but he's also keyboard player, so he's not afraid to pick up an instrument and..."

    Huey "...give it a go."

    And then Acrobat was played.

EDIT: If anyone is interested, I'll upload a copy of the interview.
    EDIT 2: Link to Interview

Note, this link is a 'cut' version, removing playback of Blow Your House Down and Acrobat. If you absolutely must have the full version, contact me privately.
  6. Hopefully Danger Mouse only lets them do a couple of takes on each song then tells them to keep their hands off it.
  7. Bump to this topic. I've changed the title since Songs Of Ascent is probably never going to see the light anyway.

    Ok, NEW ALBUM topic...

    This was leaked this morning:

    Song1:

    Song2:

It definitely DOES sound like Bono/U2 there, singing Bongolese and obviously to-be-developed music, but definitely sounds like U2 to my ears. What do you think? Discussion is open
  8. Beginning of second clip reminds me of Wild Horses a bit. To be honest the clips sound less finished than the beach clips Hope they are MUCH further than this
