1. Thanks a lot for the list/link!
  2. I don't really want a 360 album without songs like Sunday Bloody Sunday, Beautiful Day, Boots, or With or Without You....

Is UABRS (album not vhs) a good representation of a War show without Seconds or Surrender?
Is R&H (album not movie) a good representation of a JT show without OTH, Exit or RTSS?

360 was a three year tour, there were going to be songs moving in and out of the line up.
On a Vertigo release I would think that Elco, Out of Control or Zoo Station were essential to get the feel of a Vertigo show, not SBS or BTBS.

Besides, this is supposed to be U22: a gift to fans,
not the best of 33yrs of U2 live,
    not the best of 360,
not a representation of a single great 360 show.
not another best of for casual fans (there are millions of people who own only one U2 album: best of 1980-1990)

Electrical Storm was garbage, and they knew it, which is why they scrapped it so early.

Fix it in the mix, they've always done that anyway...

They played YBR at the show I attended in 2009 and the audience went silent (not a good song for a stadium show).

That's a feat in itself and no reason to leave it off. I've been to shows (not U2, though) where the place virtually emptied (people gettting drinks etc.) because of one song or an ill placed interlude. Those artists are simply a bit more arrogant than U2; it's the self indulgence they originally hated, when they started to perform.

U2 are notoriously critical of themselves and what they do, that's why they're asking us for input on what to put on this thing. This is our moment to say: you were right to try and bring in relatively unknown tracks (YBR) and long absentees (TUF). Playing those gems is *not* self indulgence, in fact they were doing a lot of people (us!) a big favour.

The only thing wrong with YBR is Adam's missing vocals

    +1 +1 +1 +1 +1

By the way, there's a brand new Arctic Monkeys song with your nickname. It's good: Arctic Monkeys - Evil Twin
  4. thanks for the link
    and for agreeing
  5. Well said. I'm in complete agreement and Adam's input to YBR is essential.

  6. ahaha i was just going to try and find that picture. LOL Yeppp im sad there's no MW from Anaheim 2, it was shockingly good for some reason. i don't even like MW that much but i was just like :O
  7. I really like the list so far.

But I am a bit sad that they are choosing Beautiful Day from before they decided to add the space station video. I personally found that it made the song much more powerful. That little duet part reminded me a bit of ZooTV's Satellite Of Love with that video of Lou Reed.

    No. They are not.

  10. @Rummy, Rhetorical questions.

My point is that a U2 concert or rather the essence of a tour is not in the treatment of hits and staples, but

    a) the uniqueness lies in albums tracks of the album that spawned the tour,
    b) crucial is the rediscovery/reinvention of deep back catalogue work,
    c) there are musical and thematic links between songs (Tuf->UC/MoS, Pride-> Magnificent)
    d) an audio representation of the tour should try to exclude all the video link ups, messages and speeches.

YBR is the exception, because in it's original incarnation it already featured a vocal "out of nowhere". Note that Frank de Winne reciting lyrics is as silly as having Anton Corbijn singing, which is why Adam should overdub that segment. Without the visuals the cameo in BD is strange as well...even though we would all know where it came from, if you heard it on your stereo.

Some of the 360 shows had nice flow, some didn't. The 360 DVD feels like individual songs pasted together. It doesn't flow right. No Breathe doesn't help. By picking just hits you can actually hurt the flow, because these songs are too singular. There are exceptions such as ZooStation->Fly->EBTTRT, or NYD->UTEOW->Stay.

I'm not saying they should completely ignore the big guns (see top5 in current voting).
I'm saying there should be more than enough room for the rare tracks, even if it comes at the expense of a song like SBS/etc.

BTW JT/LoveTown didn't rely on visuals, 360 did. But this is a CD, not a DVD. So the meaning and value of songs is quite different. Take away the green wash/Iran of SBS360 and you've got essentially the same stuff they've done 600 times. It hadn't really been reworked. it's not rare, it's not essential to pinpoint 360 in time.

Now if they were planning to include SBS /w Jay-Z (from the MTV performance), I could totally live with that. They just need to fix Bono's rap, to fit the meter better.
  11. Agree with everything except d).

Lots of great points but this U22 release will more than likely seem like a bunch of singular songs (and lack theme) no matter what tracks make the top 22.
