1. Yeah Disappearing Act is better than half the stuff on TUF and even NLOTH - it has everything great lyrics, vocals, drums, bass, guitar

Though that said, i'm just relistening to the unreleased tracks and Oh Berlin is quite interesting in a laid back kind of way - the lyrics could be better though, they're somewhat nonsensical.

i'll agree that it's VERY good, but i wish there had been a vocal take from 1991. Bono's achtung voice over the "new" vocals anyday imo
  3. so frustrating not being able to hear them...so excited to get it
  4. God, the anticipation is just insane! You overseas guys are SO lucky! I became a fan during this era, so there was only one version of the reissue I went for.. The unboxing videos are TORTURE, the fly shades look so damn SWEET! Just touching those babies will bring those crazy teenage fantasies I used to have about The Fly full circle (sort of)! Seriously though, I just bought a new USB turntable a few weeks ago, so as much as I would love to rip the Achtung CD I have owned for almost 20 years, I'm going straight for the vinyl when the big box finally gets here!
  5. IMHO babies UTEOW and UV are better than the final album versions. They are much more... introspective and reflective so to speak, this concerns both the music and the vocals. To my mind the polish that the album versions have was completely unnecessary.

In a lot of these demoes and outtakes I hear R&H.
In other words, precisely those songs that were left off AB were the songs that hinted more at the past than the future.

Listening to Adam's interview on BBC6, he confirms that they left off those songs in favour of more forward looking tracks. They delibereatly discarded the older/classic U2 sound. That was the whole point of AB.

Out with the old, in with the new!
The sound of four men chopping down the Joshua Tree.
    Dream it all up again...
    etc.
  7. oh man, gonna have to wait even longer for this now cuz the place were i pre-ordered my copy all of a sudden decided they werent going to stock it now. fuckers.
  8. I don't know if this is the place for such a request (shall I open a new topic?), but I wonder if anyone would like/want to make cd and dvd covers for the discs in the boxset? I would love to have nice cd backcovers (including tracklists) and front covers for the Kindergarten, remixes, b-sides etc cd's. (so that I don't have to pull them out of that big book all the time.....

If it's not appropriate, please forget I asked....
  9. has anyone allready opened the internet link that was given in the Uber box
  10. You'll get the 6 CDs as mp3 and wav download with that code.

The cover of Everybody loves a winner dates back to 1988/89 btw. It belongs to their "cover"-period.
  11. I haven't seen it posted:
