  1. I recently downloaded a 1996 Randall's Island show (can't remember wich one of the two). Admittedly, haven't taken the time to listen to it although I obvioulsy should.

    Well,so many people have said,over the years,that its "THE" show by the band.It was fanatastic.I was there.Their performance was stellar.Eddies voice was more incredible than usual.But,I thought 08.25.00,Jones Beach was as good,if not better.Same goes for the Randall's Island gig,09.29.96 I went to.Performance wise,all 3 are amazing.The only bad thing about Randall's ,was the sound.It was good,but MSG and even Jones Beach sounded better.Alot of the PJ diehards disagree with me on that.Most feel the 1998 Yeild Tour was the bands best.It was great.But I liked the 1996 Tour,and even the 2000 Tour a bit more.But,thats just me,and my opinion of the tours themselves.I would rank those 3 tours in the top 5 alltime.

    I like No Code alot,LIVE,so Im biased towards the '96 gig.Also,check out the Jones Beach 08.25.00 show,N3.Very heavy on the No Code tunes.....

    I have had the good fortune of being in attendance, at many of their great gigs.Those three above,also 07.08.03 MSG, and both nights last spring,05.20 and 21.10....MSG....

    I also loved Montreal 2005 and Montreal 2011.....
  3. Are both the Downing Stadium shows that are available from pearljambootlegs of high quality. Those two gigs have pretty much every thing you would want from 1996 and earlier!

    From 1998: The first bootleg compilation I wanted to do (before this official bootleg madness overtook my spare time) was a Australia/NZ mix (I saw them in Auckland) but it seems the March 5th Melbourne gig is the only one with supreme audio quality. Am I wrong?

    Almost ready to upload my Italy 2006 mix. If I only knew where the best place to do it was.

    Mexico 2003 is near completion.

    Then 2000 Europe and 2000 NA - must keep it to 2CD max.

    Waiting for 2011 boots. I guess they'd be in South America by now if not very soon.

    Go to We Got Shit...A Pearl Jam Bootleg Site,thats the site I use for pre 2000 boots.They update the early boots all the time.Check out 1996,then download the Berlin gig from 11.03.96.It says Sony Promo.I believe this was broadcast,or was going to be released by Sony at one time.That,as we know,didnt happen.That is the best sounding gig from 1996.Its very well known,and different versions have been around for 15 yrs.I actually had a bootleg cd of it,that I bought many years ago.It was called Checkpoint Charlie.Its a good one.

    There really isnt too many quality sounding shows from 1998.Just Seattle,07.22.98,and the Melbourne gig.
  5. Well I guess I am done with 1996 and 1998 as I already have the four shows (and only those four shows) that we have mentioned in the last four posts.

    I'm sure these will do just fine.
  6. I went to kill some time today at Barnes and Noble, and I found both Yield and Riot Act for 5 bucks each. Can't wait to listen to them. I know they won't be as good as the earlier albums, but I couldn't pass up the price.

  8. Yield is right up there for me with PJ's first three albums (Faithfull is my personal favourite off that one, although GIven To Fly and Do The Evolution would be considered its big guns). I've been listening to Peal Jam since 1992 but only recently started listening to Riot Act in its entirity. I'd say there's not a bad song on that album. Save You, Bu$leaguer's chorus, and Can't Keep are my favourites these days.

    I agree.The thing is,I still to this day,dont really like the way Yeild sounds.Its a dead,almost demo-like sound.Not as bad as No Code,but still.

    I would love to hear No Code and Yeild remixed.EV vocals ate too low on No Code,so is the whole band.

    That is a great price.Both are solid releases.I think the songs off Yeild,like No Code,sound better live.Listen to Given to Fly studio,then listen to it live.PJ,for some reason,tried to get away from their sound,after jamming with Neil Young in 1995,things changed bigtime.

    What happened to the loud slamming guitars,booming drums,EVs wild vocals ?.Maybe "Uncle Neil", during the Mirror Ball sessions,told them to cool things down.I Got Id is a bit restrained sounding,IMO.

    I noticed this,LACK OF QUALITY SOUND, on Vitalogy, prior to the Mirror Ball sessions.The clean sound,was gone.A couple of the songs had a "demo-like" quality about them.Example being...Bugs....IMO that is PJs WTF moment.....
  12. Yeah, "Bugs" is pretty out there - in a bad way.

    I've reached a point with PJ, like U2, where I prefer listening to almost all of their tunes live as opposed to the studio versions - and they have played virtually all their songs (b-sides included) in a live venue at some point and time. No "Acrobat" or "Drowning Man" in PJ's bootlegs.
