+1. Absolutely neccesary, not everyone does it. If you don't do it, strings will take a lot of time (even days) to settle to their actual tension and you will struggle to make the guitar stay in tune.
  2. Stretch them how?
  3. I think I'll redo it, it doesn't look like it used to... I've succeeded before though.

  4. Grab the string and pull it about one inch away from the fretboard. Re-tune the string, then repeat until the string no longer falls out of tune. Do it for every string.

Thanks, for the tip, will do that
  6. Do it SLOW or your guitar neck will suffer. De-string it carefully and slowly.

    Stretch them like this:
  7. Anyway: if the knot is wrongly done, it won't stay in tune, no matter how much effort you put into stretching the strings or whatever!
  8. Do you make more knots on the treble strings?
  9. And also, use vaseline when you are replacing strings. It lubricates the part where the strings rest and stops the strings from snapping easily. If a girl is with you when you are replacing your strings, make sure you instantly say it's for the strings and not for her.

And when you've finished, quickly rub your finger back and forth on your jeans to experience a killer burn.

Not necesarely. If the knot is done well enough, a single knot will be enough. Doing more knots, besides being a bitch when it comes to replace that string, is useless if the technique used for doing them is equally wrong.
