1. It was more like raining frozen peas than golf balls

That is some serious damage though from a bit of ice, luckily we don't have a skylight.
  2. I will upload the video someday. It's scary. It was an awful evening, I can swear it... We later installed another skylight, but this time we bought a special super-resistant glass, just in case

That's as scary as it gets.

Luckily, hail storms use to be pretty short.
  6. I've seen that vid before, Swedish golf pro Alexander Norén who went college or something there posted it on his excellent blog. It scared the shit out of me.

  7. Jesus Christ. Did they have to refill the pool afterwards?

Would you believe me if I said it was wet again? Today is the day our Scottish neighbours get battered by wind

  8. not for us here we get the warmth from our Italian and Spanish friends

A lady was seriously injured (and eventually dead) a few hundred meters away from my home during the same hail storm that broke my skylight. It's been said that she was walking and actually didn't find any cover or shelter, but I think you must be pretty stupid not to find a single tree or something. She was very unlucky too, what's the chances of a hail piece to hit you on the exact spot in the head where it kills you? I didn't know her personally, but I knew who she was, and it's super scary to realize that it could have been me or any of my family. Yep, hail is dangerous.

  10. You'd be alright if you wanted ice in your drink.

Surely the advice would be to crouch down and tuck your head in, I'd rather have my back hit than my head. Though when it's raining bowling balls like in the video, I guess it's time to take drastic measures. Probably not best to stand under a tree if it's accompanied by a thunderstorm...
  11. Yeah, that's the most obvious advice. The "golf balls" we had weren't much smaller to the vids' ones. I'm not sure, but I think the woman decided to run home or something instead of looking for shelter and/or the less damage possible. It's shocking anyway, what if a hail storm like that finds me out of home, walking to the bus or something?

By the way... I think (might be wrong, though) that hail storms are never/rarely accompanied by electrical thunderstorms. I couldn't explain the scientific basis for my statement, but I think I'm right
