Well, as you said with "Binaural" I don't hate Avocado but I don't think it's as good as any of the others. I'll try to explain my reasoning, however, for putting it last - an on-the-spot explanation, mind you:

I felt they were trying to write/perform more "mature" rock and roll music and it made them seem a bit dated. Eddie sounds great and they play well but what made Pearl Jam who they were just wasn't there. "Come Back" is a bit too "1950's" for my liking and the heavier songs like "Comatose," "Big Wave," and "Unemployable" just sound like weaker versions of some of their 1990's stuff. I even think "WWS" was there weakest lead single, aside from maybe "Who You Are." I do think "Life Wasted-Reprise" and "Severed Hand" are great tunes and there are parts of "Marker in the Sand," "Inside Job," and "Gone" that I like. I guess in the end, when I have eight other albums to choose from (plus hundreds of concerts), "Avocado" just doesn't seem like a worthwhile option.

It's all a matter of opinion, of course, and I still love the 2006 tour.

Cool. I totally understand. I was curious to hear your opinion. Looking forward to seeing your dream sets.
  2. For me,the bands first 2 releases are just amazing. Those 2 releases are classic PJ.Then, after Cobain criticized the band non-stop,they changed.EV, really took what that miserable drug addict loser said personally.

Vitology, has some really great moments. But there are "songs" on there that are horrible.I remember listening to this release, after I ran out and bought it when it came out.My jaw hit the ground.Great songs, and some of the worst ,unlistenable music, I have ever heard."Pry,to" 'Bugs" "Aya Davanita" and the worst of this lot "Stupidmop."

    Vitalogy could have been a masterpiece.Better Man.Nothingman.Courdory.Immortality.Not For You.STBC.Last Exit.Great songs.

EV wanted to actually "give away" Better Man for C.Hynde (The Pretenders) to sing on the Greenpeace CD.This song could have even been on VS.It wasnt a single. He wrote it when he was a teenager.Too commercial I guess.I love it.As did Brendan OBrien.

I could never understand, why, they (really EV) tried to basically sabotage their own careers. No videos,no singles. The whole Ticketmaster fiasco. It left me very frustrated. They meant well, fighting Ticketmaster, but no other band backed them.

No Code could have been a classic. But,once again,EV said lets "dull the sound".Make my voice sound inaudable. He has a great voice, and you cant hear him on No Code.Great songs, recorded horribly.Same goes for Yield.I call this period, the bands "Neil Young faze."

IMO,the first 2 releases are the best.Hands down. Then Vitalogy, followed then by the flat, dull sounding releases No Code and Yield.

Backspacer is very good.I like Avocado. You can finally hear Vedder again. The sound is sharp.Riot Act is ok.

    1) Ten
    2) VS (Five Against One)
    3) Vitalogy
    4) No Code
    5) Yield
    6) Backspacer
    7) Pearl Jam (Avocado)
    8) Binaural
    9) Riot Act
  3. What's up Ed? Knew you'd be here soon lol. I agree with the sound of No code and Yield, but luckily you can easily put together those full albums with superior sound board live versions which I'm sure you've done lol. I have Vitalogy on a playlist with this running order:
    Last Exit
    Black Circle
    NOt 4 u
    Tremor Christ
    Nothingman
    Whipping
    Corduroy
    Betterman
    Satans bed
    Immortality
    Hard to imagine

    Works so well.

Hey...Thats a good order.I prefer Immortality as a closer, with Nothingman proceeding it..Hard to Imagine should have been on there.
