  1. Have to admit that the studio version doesn't quite do it for me. If I could put a Zoo TV live version in the list, then it'd be easily up there.

    We've had this discussion before. Some people say that Streets is only as perfect as we all think on the album version, and others think that it only reaches its real power when performed live... I share a bit of both opinions:

  3. The studio version probably is the perfect example of the song, slow build, brilliantly layered and hits a great momentum. However, some performances of the song live are just sheer power. And as good as the studio version is, it can't replicate the power that has been delivered live and as a result, I feel a little underwhelmed when I listen to the studio version. If you took The Joshua Tree as a whole though, the live version would never suit the album and that's when you really appreciate the studio version.

    Streets managed to hold on in the end.

    But that may be altered, once I've done the other songs I'll have a listen through. It wasn't between Streets and One by the way I think Streets is the 8th or 9th song from U2.

    Streets is Streets - studio or live - and it is the greatest song of all time...well, at least it's my favourite song of all time.
  7. i also think it's the greatest song of all time but i always put Bad on top of my favourites .. maybe by right of seniority ..
  8. Streets is indeed one of the best songs of all time, but not THE best song of all time imo.
  9. It's tough distinguish between subjectivity and objectivity with these sorts of things. Art, of course, is not based on fact but opinion. These things simply create great "conversation" and open our eyes (and ears) to other types of music - and let us rediscover songs we've shelved for awhile.
