    It wasn't lost. They 'made it lost' so that they could use it twice.

    Anyway, I just feel Miss Sarajevo had a pleasantly surprising "umph" in 2005/2006. Bono seemed to hit the notes better the first time around. Also, it was better suited to an intimate, arena show as opposed to a big, outdoor stadium show.

    He sang the opera part differently on 360. A lot more operatically. I really like both. On Vertigo the notes sounded really heavy, on 360 they had more beauty.
  4. I agree with you, Rummy, to an extent. Miss Sarajevo is a great song, by all means. BUT, they played it far too much on 360 Tour, and it should have dropped relatively quickly after the second European leg. I always thought that they should have replaced it with Running to Stand Still or something.
  5. I love Miss Sarajevo and I was glad that I heard it over the summer. Though perhaps it is better suited for an arena. I hated seeing masses of people walk out for a break during this song while Bono is up there giving it his all...

    I suppose that was my reasoning for saying what I did in the first place. Not a big enough hit for crowds in the summer of 2011.


  7. As somebody who completely loves this song, I actually agree with you.

    It's not that the performances during the 360 Tour were less moving and powerful. In fact, I think the performances of MS during the 360 tour were generally very strong.

    The weird part for me was the fact that they would just jump into the song during the 360 Tour. During the Vertigo Tour, every time I heard those opening piano notes, I was anticipating Bono's mini-speech. It gave the song meaning and made it even more powerful. For me, without Bono's speech, the song isn't the same.



    Regarding the DVD, I would love a full DVD release! One reason why I can see that they didn't is because (as with most of the stadium summer shows in Europe) the sun sets very late, so it really does a number on the visual effects of the show.

    ^^ I believe that's why they played Vertigo twice on some of the European shows yes? So they could play the song again with the lighting effects...
  9. Well they claimed it was to pay homage to their 'early days' where they would often play a song like I Will Follow twice, once very early in the set and then again as the closer or at least a part of the last two or three songs..
  10. Bono mentioned a lot about the significance of the Vertigo Tour setlists. I really like how they decided to make their first encore a trip back to ZooTV. The Chicago DVD really reflects that well.

    But as mentioned above, the playing of the second Vertigo was a tribute to their earlier days when they did not have enough songs to fill an encore. I remember during one of the Saitama shows Bono introduces the second Vertigo by saying "encore in the Italian sense, meaning to repeat; play one more time." As much as people think it was a waste of a song, I believe Vertigo as played during the Vertigo Tour got the crowd to go crazy. When you listen to a handful of the best Vertigo Tour bootlegs, you will find that the song had a variety of intros. Some drew out the drum part to build energy, some emphasized the bass, and some let the Edge rip loose right off the bat. This combined with the well played snippets made the song a real hit back then. I feel that they tamed Vertigo quite a bit for the 360 Tour.

    I can live with two The Ocean's and two 11 O Clock's, but what about two Get On Your Boots' and two Stuck In A Moment's? It would be suicide worthy I reckon
