This is even better than all the real things!!! But please don't push our hopes too high unless it's really worth it

  5. Performance - 5 stars

    Absolutely fabulous!

A set driven by Larry's drums, the energy from the band is clear right from the off. Bono screams "GLORIA" and the tone for the performance is set.

Great opening 3 songs, dropping in NYD as the first track from War then on to the uplifting OOC and it's difficult to catch your breath. SBS as Bono claims "Is NOT a rebel song", but it is a song with soul.

The only place where the set slightly (but only very slightly) loses it's momentum is when Tomorrow follows October, however, the second half of Tomorrow is good enough to pick it up again.

    Superb performance.

    Audience - 5 stars

They were excellent. You could tel these were big fans of War from the singing along with most of the songs. Very rowdy, and in a good way!

    Sound - 3 stars

For its age, this boot has pretty good sound, but I'm giving it a 3 star comparing it to more recent, high quality boots.

However, don't let the 3 stars put you off downloading!

    Overall - 4.5 stars

A real gem for me. Loved the set list, especially the inclusion of Like A Song for the only time it has ever been played. You could tell the band were up for the gig and really excited about their new songs they could bring out.

    Highlights:
-The opening 3 tracks - Larry's drumming is magnificent!
-Like A Song, the only time it was ever played - but why? Should have been played more.

    Lowlights
-I feel very harsh, but the only lowlight is the sound, but as I said, please don't let this put you off, this is a great boot!

  6. Guys - I loved this boot! Thank you!!!

I'm in for a Christmas "special"

    Can I suggest:

    1981-12-20, London
    1997-12-12, Seattle

    Ta!
  7. Performance: 4.5 Stars
The best part of early U2 performances is how much energy these four guys bring. This show is no exception. They feel they have to prove themsekves, and I feel like they succeed. From start to finish, they give their all.

    Audience: 3 Stars
I couldn't really hear much of the audience, but when I did, they sounded enthusiastic.

    Sound: 2.5 Stars
This was the lowlight of the show for me. It's listenable, but you can tell its old.

    Overall: 3.5 Stars
Great performance, but the sound just isn't that good. If you can overlook the sound, then this is a historic U2 show, with the only performance of Like a Song, plus the first performances of several War songs. If you are looking for a good sounding War bootleg, there a several other shows I would recommend before this one. But if you want a document of rare songs, then this is a must have.

Highlights: Like a Song, Sunday Bloody Sunday, Out of Control
  8. I won't be able to submit my review in time. I'm still gonna review it though, hopefully tomorrow.
  9. Only 4 reviews? My, my. Thanks to those who took part, you can of course still post your review. I'm going to read through them now to see what people thought.
  10. I'll post my review in 15 minutes when I get to a computer.
  11. I may post a review later if I feel like listening to some music
  12. Performance (4 stars):
Great idea to start off in the hectic and atmospheric city of Dundee.

As ever, starting with Gloria makes the crowd warm-up their legs to get ready for an hour and a half of constant jumping to the wonderful magic of U2 songs. The show starts off magnificently with Gloria, leading into I Threw A Brick and A Day Without Me (two songs which always flowed well together). A couple of songs later, Sunday Bloody Sunday arrives, with the roar that the crowd produce at every U2 concert, as soon as the song starts. We have an excellent performance of Tomorrow, which I thought was perfect, and maybe one of the best versions of it ever. This was also the concert with a couple of songs debuted: Two Hearts and Seconds, which were very well done considering the debut. After that, there wasn't anything that appealed to me, but the encore revived the ending. Like A Song was played, and this concert marks it as the only time it was ever played. It was magnificent, and probably because this is the only time it has ever been performed, but that makes it nostalgic. It is a right shame that they never played it after this. And 40, which is debuted as well, was a superb end to quite a special show.

    Audience (3 stars):
Very surprising, as Dundee is a city which isn't exactly clean or quiet. It is a city full of aggro, and is loud. I thought they were a little bit dim.

    Sound (3 stars):
    Nothing to shout about.

    Overall (3.5 stars):
Really good performance, the audience disappointed and the sound was mediocre. 3.5/5.
