1. Goalkeeper is completely indefensible however you look at it. If he did that to a player in the game, he'd be looking at a lengthy ban and I'm sure the Alkmaar players wouldn't contest the red card, but because it was a fan who came on the field it's ok? No. I agree that the red cards may seem daft sometimes, but Esteban flipped.

With regards to Alkmaar walking off the field, I'd come down on them hard if I worked for the Dutch FA. They had absolutely no right from what I've seen to just walk off the field. Ajax should act quickly to punish the fan, lifetime ban would be a start. Over here, Alkmaar would probably be fined for bringing the game into disrepute.

No, you just need common sense. It's generally accepted in major leagues now that running on the field is a serious offence and can carry a lifetime ban, not to mention bringing shame upon the club you support.

Nobody has defended the fan, his actions in today's game are frowned upon but at the same time, nobody should be defending the goalkeeper for his vile actions. If everyone responded like him, then the only one getting seriously injured would be the fan as he gets the sh*t kicked out of him.

Only problem is, it's not his job to tackle the guy and hold him down until security arrives. He's in the middle of a match, and all of the sudden there's this drunk idiot throwing himself at him. I was impressed he didn't punch the security guards that showed up once the guy was down. You can see he isn't sure who is running up behind him, and he braces himself to punch the guard before he realizes who the guard really is.

Understandable that the ref had to card him (given the letter of the law), but I think you have to penalize Ajax financially for not having a better control on their security. You really can't start awarding points to a team when something like this happens though, because who's to say a fan of AZ didn't show up, "attack" an AZ player only to get 3 cheap and easy points out of the situation. Unlikely, but possible....

Haha...30 seconds after you posted, I essentially defended the goalkeeper! Whoops.

  4. no probs at all
Olof expressed quite wel lwhat is my opinion too.
the guy is definetely to be condemned and should pay what he deserves but the player, in a different manner, too. like Tim said, he also has sort of role-model not only for young players but for youngs in general (and for lots of oldies of course) .. his reaction could trigger an even bigger one among agitated fans.
saying an extreme we're not in the Far West where everyone can make justice by himself
  5. If this happened to me i will kick the stupid s ass , i play football and i know what it is ....but he is a professional , he can t do this , and he must know the rules , this is not the first time that this happened

    +1
  7. saying "i would do the same of the player" doesn't mean it's right
probably i would in the same situation, who knows, but it shouldn't be the right thing to do, i would be wrong too

You are right and the big difference is that he is a pro and he can´t do that

I am very passionate playing any sport , but i am not a pro ( really near )
  9. West Bromwich Albion 0-0 Manchester City

What a result for us, first time Man City haven't scored this season
  10. Was the best possible set of results for Spurs this week
  11. Ajax - AZ is going to be replayed from the start in a empty stadium. So that means the 1-0 Ajax had is deleted and also the red is deleted.
    Not fair imo.

    Sounds pretty fair to me.
