1. I like them (or at least respect them), too. I even went to university in their hometown, Kingston. However, I have never seen them live. They have some great tunes...Nautical Disaster, Little Bones, Fifty Mission Cap, Music at Work, Fireworks, amongst others.

For the record, I mention this in the AB thread for two reason...well three, if you count the fact that I am responsng to Matt's post:

    1. I don't think a thread for them would go very far here. They're really only big in Canada.

    2. Arguably, their biggest album, Fully Completely, was released not too long after AB (mid-1992) and seemingly played interchangably with AB and PJ's Ten by MANY individuals in my university dorm.
  2. Forgive me for being slightly late to the party, I just got my Super Deluxe box (not über) and started listering in reverse order, starting with "Baby". I own all AB era CD-singles so there's a lot of familiar stuff amoungst the B-sides and remixes, but it was good to hear them collated onto two CDs. The book, packaging and prints are great, thanks to all who've shown the cover pictures framed, that's an excellent idea.

Anyway, finally I've come to Disc 1: Achtung Baby itself. But I've got to say I'm a bit disappointed by Achtung Baby's "remastered" sound quality. The mix is way too bass heavy, bordering on woolly, without much definition or attack.

I have a pretty high end stereo (mid 90s) and I've never come across this on any other CD. Zooropa (not remastered, AFAIK) sounds great, as do the other discs. So the problem is certainly not in my set up or settings. Adam doesn't sound like Adam to me.

I will need to confirm the unnatural sounding bass in my car, but has anyone experienced something similar? Note that I regularly play the original CD, so I'm quite aware of how it should sound.

Secondly, I hadn't looked at the tracklisting in detail, but I was a bit surprised by the absence of certain Zooropa B-sides. The only pre2000 CD-single missing from my collection is Stay (the live format):

    Slow Dancing (studio)
    BTBS live
    LIB live.

I do own Stay (the swing format) which included "I've got you under my skin", which is missing. The accompanying video is absent too. It could be related to not being able to obtain the publishing rights for Frank Sinatra's performances. Also missing is Zooropa (radio edit). You might argue that this is an AB rerelease, but there is no chance of Zooropa era outtakes showing up in another box set.

Lastly, I think they really should've included the original version of Night and Day, since to me that song is the perfect link between the R&H and AB eras, especially when paired with 'Skin and Stay. I seriously doubt that it would feature in a possible R&H rerelease.

"Blow at High Dough" always gets me moving and singing along, so much passion. Fucking great tune.
  4. Sooooo, anyone saw this?

If you thought Bono looked like a knob in So Cruel well...
  5. I hate it when people complain when Bono is being himself.
  6. I received both the 2CD edition and the new From the Sky Down DVD for X-mas. Both have yet to be unwrapped, however.

    Good-tasted family you have, mister.

Regarding The Fly solo performance, I have to say that it was quite worse than So Cruel for me.
  8. I can't wait for my Super Deluxe box to arrive. Ordered it from German Amazon, fitting or what?

    Very fitting

The other day, I was about to finally step forward and order mine from Amazon Spain, when I learnt that its price has been pumped from the 52€ that Alexandra paid some weeks ago, to 90€. I mean, are you serious? A 75% increment for Christmas?? Oh, fuck off. I can live without it . . . . for the moment.
  10. Alexandra's price was without VAT though The "real" price was 70 euro.

It's 74 euro on German Amazon

  11. I'm lucky but the box is still far away from me ha ha
  12. What a horrible video, doesnt Bono understand that he looks like a complete idiot?
