Although Release is awesome, it's gotta be Better Man - and (I'll say it yet again) the clip should be from Mexico 2003.

I CRANKED that one today while I was driving around town today running some errands.
  2. You have so many classic live versions of Betterman. My favorite has to be Atlanta,04.03.94.Its wasnt released yet,EV says.."this one was written a very long time ago,and is dedicated to the bastard that married my momma".I love the drum tapping by Dave during the start.

Another more recent great version is from MSG...05.21.10
  3. I've been listening to the Atlanta 1994 show...sound is great. I plan put together that Boston/Atlanta 1994 mix you suggested a few weeks ago.
  4. Nice....when you mix those 2 great shows, your set as far as tunes from early 94 .
  5. I'll do my best to keep all the songs in the '94 mix but if I still to my "usual" two-CD length, I may have to omit a few songs. Can we live without, say, Dirty Frank or is it time I include it in something?
  6. Dirty Frank is a must......its NEVER played and must be included....next week I'm goin to list my Gorge 06 mix...yes..Dirty Frank made it Matt...lol
  7. DF will be included - promise. No guarantees, however, on "Jam."

  8. Today, I decided to make a mix of the last 3 gigs from 2000.I will ring in a New Year with Pearl Jams last 3 shows.

While I have said,I think the last show is way overrated, its still very solid.Unfortunatlely,EVs speeches dont end on this one.The Boise (11.03.00) show is great, and is hands down the best of these 3 gigs. Seattle 1 (11.05.00) is solid, but the crowd was dead for some reason.EV mentions this after Timeless Melody, sayin "This is worse than a Sonics timeout when their losing.Boise was better than you!!".True,so was their performance in Boise.Still, this show contains a great version of Crown Of Thorns.

I prefer my big 3 in a row mix,Detroit 10.07,East Troy 10.08 and Chicago 10.09.IMO,those 3 shows are far superior to these 3.

Here is my mix of the last 3 of 2000....

    1) Of The Girl - Boise 11.03 ......great version here.....love the groove...
    2) Go - Boise 11.03....slamming version...love this tune
    3) Corduroy - Boise 11.03....great song,great version...nuff said...a must...Boise is rockin
    4) Grievance - Seattle 11.06....rockin tune..very good version...
    5) RVM - Seattle 11.06.....unusually early appearance here......great powerfull version..one of the best from the entire tour...
    6) Hail Hail - Seattle 11.06...great version..intense
    7) Animal - Seattle 11.05 ..solid version..great story about how they are happy to be back in Seattle, and its shit weather...
    8) Given To Fly - Seattle 11.05....good emotional version...a favorite song for me..
    9) Tremor Christ - Boise 11.03 ...an underrated odd tune...love it live...solid creepy version here
    10) Small Town - Boise 11.03..nice version..played in a small town somewhere in Idaho..perfect Id say..
    11) Insignificance - Boise 11.03..good solid version, the band 99% of the time, flub this song in the middle section..not here...
    12) Nothing As It Seems - Boise 11.03.... great song live, best tune off Binaural..Mike shines here....
    13) MFC - Seattle - 11.05......good rockin version here.....not played enough for me...
    14) I Got Shit - Boise 11.03....great version....works perfect before Betterman..
    15) Betterman - Seattle 11.06.....good solid version...I never get sick of this played out tune...
    16) Nothingman - Seattle 11.06.....great song.....great emotional version.....one of their best songs IMO....a must have...
    17) Lukin - Seattle 11.05.....love this short, crazy mental song..works nice before Even Flow on this mix..try it....
    18) Even Flow - Boise 11.03.....Mike is in full form on this one,and for the whole Boise show....must have version....
    19) Crown Of Thorns - Seattle 11.05..an all time classic, played for only the 2nd time on the tour.IMO,this version is better than the Las Vegas version.
    20) Light Years - Boise 11.03.... good emotional tune, works well live...
    21) Jeremy - Boise 11.03.....the classic..powerfull version here...
    22) Daughter - Seattle 11.06...a great version here.....over 9 min of jamming.....ends the set nicely

    Encore 1

    23) Dont Be Shy - Boise 11.03.... EV solo, playing a Cat Stevens tune ???....oddly enough,it works..
    24) Black - Boise 11.03...Pearl Jams epic masterpiece..what mix is complete without this classic......great version..
    25) Off He Goes - Seattle 11.06 ...works well after Black...nice feel song..
    26) Immortality - Seattle 11.06...EV is usually all over the place, during this tune, really good moving version here....
    27) Timeless Melody - Seattle 11.05... The opening band, Supergrass join in,and EV proceeds to rip the crowd for being dead...classic..
    28) Do The Evolution - Boise 11.03........some much needed rock....very solid version
    29) Alive - Seattle 11.06..Only time this classic was played in N.America....good emotional version, though a bit sloppy in spots...

    Encore 2

    30) Soon Forget - Seattle 11.06......funny moment,EV plays Iron Man on the uke during the intro, then rips Bill Gates and Paul Allen. After the song, he rips the security for a full 3 min..."When will music get some fuckin respect in this town !!!!"......classic...
    31) The Kids Are Alright - Seattle 11.06.....full band version, unlike the Cincinnati (08.20) version, which has EV solo...
    32) Parting Ways - Seattle 11.05...2 woman string section adds much emotional drama to this one.....very good version..
    33) Yellow Ledbetter - Seattle 11.06......the classic b-side end it...last song,last show.....classic tour.....

A crisp 2 hrs,45 min ....I didnt go overboard on this one finally. For the simple reason,I feel better shows were played on this tour.Nonetheless,a classic mix....
  9. You're in tonght, too?

Looks like a solid mix - I will add Boise to my "to do" list. Man, it's long.

I made a two-night Seattle mix about a month ago but didn't "commit to it" as I couldn't decide which tracks in the end to include/omit. I like the addition of the Boise show as it adds in "I Got Shit" which, for whatever reason, bothered me that it wasn't played in Seattle. You could also fire in the Portland show and make a November 2000 mix - but then you're left with the dilemma as to which show to open with (Sometimes, Of the Girl, Long Road, or Release?) I've made mixes before that start off with ALL FOUR but it sounds a bit ...awkward. Ah well, all four songs are superb.

  10. LOL..yes..I have a few friends over,we all have tons of kids so...of course its 51 degrees here in Manhattan..we r on the balcony, smoking cigars, drinking wine and listening to PJ....lol..much to our wives chagrin...LOL

Portland is a very solid show..no question, and thats not a bad idea actually......I would use Of The Girl as the opener, since its a Binaural tune, and its supporting that tour.Plus,I love it live.

There is always the possibility of a California mix from 2000.The band played 6 gigs there.....
  11. Matt..you will love this..Coldplay are live on TV here..something from Austin City....the 4 wives are blasting it now...lol...its back to the balcony for the men...LOL...PJ is being drowned out..not good.....
  12. I was watching "you" on TV earlier on - NYC, that is. You know, Jenny McCarthy...Ryan Seacrest...Bieber and Santana performing "Let it Be"...I got sick of the Nivea hats and thundersticks (amongst other things) and had to turn it off.

Dick Clark must be rolling in his grave...oh, wait..he's still alive.
