Magnificent would have been a better first single!. Would've represented the album better and NLOTH would probably have sold more copies.

Disagree, as much as everyone dislikes it and would refuse to admit it, Crazy Tonight should've been the lead single, for the UK anyway. Our airwaves are dominated by commercial radio stations and Crazy Tonight is the kind of track that would've faired well against today's chart music.
  4. but Crazy didn't much better in terms of sales, did it? .. Boots was still "the best" No line single .. but i might be wrong ( ... i could have sworn i saw a light coming on .. hehe)

No Crazy Tonight didn't fair much better but it followed the trend of U2 single releases, downhill after the first one. Maybe Boots put off a lot of potential new fans? It enjoyed only two weeks in the chart which is pathetic when some artists can consistly achieve two weeks at number one per single.

What I was implying is that if Crazy Tonight had been released first, then maybe more people would've bought it. Magnificent didn't even make the UK top 40 which automatically means it's not going to get airtime. Crazy Tonight hit 32 then I imagine it dropped out after the first week. So Crazy Tonight received a better reception than Magnificent but I think the lingering memory of Boots hindered it's success.
  7. yes your reasoning is almost flawless .. but it could be also said that Magnificent suffered more being right the first single after Boots

  8. same here .. but it may be better tolerated with a good bootleg in earphones

    Indeed.

I think Get On Your Boots is a much better song than Magnificent. Boots is experimental and fun, while Magnificent quickly gets boring after a few listens. I liked Magnificent when I first got NLOTH, now I think it's the worst song. Back then I thought Boots was the worst song, now I think it's one of the best.

  10. People here are sitting around me so it would be a bit strange for me too go and put in my earphones

    Are you sitting alone?
  11. yes i have my own desk .. if someone comes to talk to me or if phone rings (a light comes on) i take them off
