THE daughter of U2 frontman Bono has said walking down the red carpet at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival is a dream come true.

Eve Hewson (19) travelled to Park City in Utah to showcase her first major movie, alongside her co-star Sean Penn.

"I always wanted to go to Sundance," she said at the US premiere of 'This Must Be The Place' at the weekend.

She said her rock star father was nothing like Cheyenne, the aging former lead singer of a goth rock band, played by Sean Penn in the film. Cheyenne embarks on a road trip to find a Nazi war criminal who persecuted his father.

"I wouldn't say my dad is anything like this character. Very, very different," said Eve, who plays the superstar's teen goth friend Mary in the film.

But despite being well used to having a music legend around the house, she said she didn't try to direct Mr Penn on how he should play his role.

"No, I didn't give him any tips. I think he's got it down. He knows what to do," she said.

Ever the professional, she batted away questions from the local media with one asking: "Have you ever been to Dublin?"

Despite being backed by industry heavyweight Harvey Weinstein's distribution company, reports say the movie, shot in Dublin during August 2010, received a mixed response from the audience.

It was first screened at Cannes last year and is to be released here in March, with an international release later in the year.

But Mr Penn had nothing but praise for the film, directed by Italian writer/ director Paolo Sorrentino.

"You wait for a script that touches you or has some originality," Mr Penn said.

Eve said she was "really proud" of the film, co-produced by Irish company Element Pictures, adding: "It's quirky and a little crazy and it's funny and it's sad."

  2. actually she's 20
  3. Funny. Whenever I hear of her, I thnk of Party Girl and Mysterious Ways
  4. I can never view either of Bono's daughters as I would other beautiful women, I've just seen their dad far too many times.
  5. I've seen my girlfriend's dad too many times as well, and that's no problem with me viewing her as the hottest girl I guess it's a stupid comparison anyway.
  6. well said hehe
viceversa be aware not to see your girlfriend's dad as a hot man since you've seen her so many times though
  7. Are we trying to deduce whether or not Bono is a good looking fellow?
  8. He surely was back in the day (87-93),but not anymore to my eyes. Not that I'm worried by it though

I'd say he sure beats most men of his age. But he's never really been THAT good looking. U2 aren't a boy band. They're a music band.
  10. go and tell to lots of lady fans all around the world

Yeah I'd say what Bono's always had going for him more than looks is the rock star status, the voice, and the huge, huge swagger.
  12. I remember when I turned into a real fan and for the first time "really looked" at the four of them. My conclusion? "none of them really looks good" ;-) telling you the truth.
But now... Bono sure IS looking good :-D
