1. Sorry, not off hand. As per our discussion about disc space last month (I don't have that much) I stick with mp3 files. I'll have a look around but I have a feeling that you've already done more than what I would be able to do.

May I teach you? Mailing stuff to Sweden seems pretty overkill. Or I could just live with 128kbit/s.
  3. LOL......anything for a PJ fan...lol

My question is,does it really sound much better from 128 - 256 in mp3 ?

I checked to other PJ sites, they are also in megaupload...
  4. Flac seems like a pain in the ass....but,as I said..I dont know much about it...
  5. The present tense blog had the flac but they were over megaupload .. so FBI warning hehe
for the 2006 they should be on rapidshare too if i remember
  6. rearview mirror is a very good site as well...but I think most of the shows are in mp3 form..

I dont think any of the 2003 shows were available in flac in 2003..but I could be wrong..I dont remember that option..
  7. Well. Then let me hijack this topic.

I'd say there's a pretty big difference between 128kbit/s and 256kbit/s. When you rip a CD, you generally compress the audio to make it take a bit less space on your computer. This means that the computer is "simplifying" the audio by taking some stuff away and what you could call lowering the resolution of the rest of the track. You could say that on the CD, the tracks are in HD but when you rip them you make them more pixelated. A 256kbit/s rip is still very good quality, so good that a human ear pretty much can't tell the difference. However, when you get to a 128kbit/s rip, the audio has been so compressed that there's a pretty clear difference if you've got a decent set of ears.

There's a way around this however, with lossless formats like Flac and Apple Lossless. These do compress the file a bit as well, but without lowering the quality of the audio.

Official CDs are pretty much always lossless.
  8. So,you are looking for the 2003 shows in only flac format ?
  9. Well, Flac or Apple Lossless would be nice. iTunes can rip to Apple Lossless.

I just found a torrent containing all the official boots from 2003 in Flac on Jam River. It has no seeds though.
  10. I have a few shows from pjboots,I downloaded them from the site.Ripped them to a cd-r,then ripped the songs back to my iPod.

I have alot from PJ.com that I bought in mp3,back in 2003.I also have the actual cd's,from a bunch of shows.

    They are all 256...

This is not a very good thing to do for audio quality. Since the tracks from pjboots are in 128kbit/s... This is what they will be in on the CD as well. When you rip that CD to 256kbit/s with iTunes, you're compressing them again! It would be a lot better to just put the files you downloaded from pjboots directly on your iPod by dragging them to iTunes. It would save space on your iPod as well

Yeah, when you rip those CDs with iTunes, you're converting them to 256kbit/s. On the CD, the tracks are in higher quality.
