  1. So a friend of mine is a U2 fan. Now, he's not a U2Start bootlegging, shade wearing, rumor listening, beanie rocking fan but he loves his U2. He recently asked me to burn him some of the best U2 B-Sides and rare tracks he hasn't likely heard, so I put together a playlist and it ran to 187 songs. So far its taken 5 discs to burn and it's only a little past halfway done. Poor (or should I say lucky, what an experience, hearing some U2 music for the first time!) guy is getting a 10 disc collection on Monday haha. Anyone else ever have one of these awkward "U2 Means way more to me than it probably does you" moments?
  2. Quite often and I also did a kind of "Make you believe"-compilation thingie with live footage as well.

    As for U2-newbies, I only have a 3 CD-compilation:
    - Greeatest Hits (the commercial stuff...)
    - Hidden treasures (to give them a wider range of what U2 is all about, including my faves - VERY hard to put it down to 1 CD only)
    - Live faves (some songs I only used as live version to have more space for other songs on the hidden treasures CD).

    For your friend 10 CDs might be ok, but for people who just know 2 or 3 songs, such a huge compilation to listen to might be too much....?
  3. My brother will be rocking out to Beautiful Day and he be like. "What's a good U2 song I should listen to?"

    I'll suggest Acrobat or Stories For Boys or Drowning Man and he'll be like, U2 didn't write this...
  4. Every time a new friend tells me they saw U2, I immediately ask what year, what city, what night of the week, and where they sat.

    If they tell me they saw Elevation in Chicago, but can't remember when, Ill be like "Well you either saw them in May or October, and if you saw them in May, were you there the first night, or the second night? This is very important."

    The conversations never last long.
  5. Yeah, whenever I hear a city, I instantly think of all the U2 concerts in that city

  6. Me too, I also know almost every state with US city U2 has ever played in. Without U2, I would never know that Lexington lies in Kentucky or something like that

  7. Awkward as hell, quite embarrasing and uncomfortable. I try to avoid it, because... well, U2 means way more to me than it probably does to anyone else

    For me it's the worst when I wear my Bono shades out and people ask about them. "Oh you see, they're the same kind Bono wore in the 360 tour. He wears a whole bunch of different kinds of sunglasses and they've changed a whole lot over the years like in the elevat- where'd everyone go?"

    Same here. My knowledge of US cities and states has grown considerably since I started collecting bootlegs.
