    (late reply to this post)

I think you should listen to No Code a few times before getting into the live versions of the songs if only for "contrast" purposes. It does have some classics on it (Sometimes, Hail Hail, In My Tree, Off He Goes, and Present Tense come to mind) that sound okay in the studio and then really come to life on the stage. There are many great versions of all/most of the songs from No Code out there, be it from the later remaster series shows (Berlin 1996 is a good bet) and also the songs scattered throughout the official bootleg series shows.
  2. Have any of you read the book, This All Encompassing Trip (Chasing Pearl Jam Around the World) ?

It's synopsis on Amazon states: What is life on the road like for a rock star? Jason Leung is no rock star but he lives the life of one while following Pearl Jam on tour around the world. Starting in 2005 with a modest road trip in a beat up old van to see every Pearl Jam show across Canada, Jason discovers a whole community of like-minded fans who are as welcoming as they are kind hearted. This fascinating experience inspires Jason to leave his promising career as a civil engineer to further explore this phenomenon and pursue a life of travel. His ensuing journey continues across America, all over Europe, and around Australia, as he relentlessly journeys from show to show during Pearl Jam's entire 2006 world tour, establishing a unique family of friends along the way. These extraordinary bonds and the adventures that emerge from them are the basis for Jason's story and This All Encompassing Trip!
  3. Havent read that one Matt...

I know thats what they call the interview show on PJ Radio...

Their Mgr usually gets chewed out on the All Encompassing Trip, usually about the latest ticketing fiasco..lol
  4. I haven't read too many rock band books (just a few on The Beatles, and one each on U2, Led Zep, and Cobain) but this sound interesting. I may do some more research on it and maybe give it a try.
  5. You should pick up the PJ20 book....it really is an interesting read, its similar to the Beatles Anthology book, direct quotes from the band...
  6. I've seen it in stores. It'd be an interesting read - although I'd have to take constant teasng from my wife for reading. It'd be deserved, however, as I frequently make fun of all the crap she reads.
  7. Thread too low on the "active topics" list.

After five days of no PJ (lots of U2 and Radiohead), I've cracked and started listening to Chicago, June 2003.
  8. You will enjoy that gig Matt...go right into East Troy afterwards.....

Just finished a nice 5 mile jog...I'm on a bench in Battery Park listening to Achtung Baby .......Ultra Violet blasting....weather is fantastic here in NYC...goin up to 72 today.......made me think of last summer....Montreal N 2....I think all of Canada heard UV it was so loud....lol
  9. the pj was the best rock show that happened in Curitiba Pr Brazil in 2011
  10. Those 2011 SA shows are fantastic...great setlists....energetic crowd....etc...etc...etc...
  11. It was only just this morning that I "caught" the reference to The Beatles at the end of the song "Love Boat Captain"...

I know it's already been sung,... can't be said enough.
Love is all you need,.. all you need is love,..

  12. Chicago is a very nice gig...clean (the band was tight - in a good way) and efficient...not "cluttered" with too many covers...East Troy seems to have a lot of those but that's okay...and it opens with "Sometimes" which is always a plus.
