1. Two pieces I wrote. Not sure if I'll take them any further.

    Modern Prophecy Is...

''Full of dimensions, comes with lots of pretensions
I know your apprehensions aren't even worthwhile progressions
Why would you prostitute yourself to common conventions
When my misconceptions are like all those forbidden suggestions

That you had when I allow myself to be a whore to fortune and fame
Just a portion of something that deserves an abortion
I'm not lettin' nobody bring me down with an extortion
Maybe it's time to tell you that your disconfigured and misconfigured mind is full of modern distortion
Forcin' a caution on me is like endorsing metaphorical malabsorption...''

    Unsure

''The world is at a standstill
And my mind is at a crossroads
I take things at face value
Slip through my head and see her face.

Her face I see a thousand times over
Still I stumble upon the words I wanna say
Her bible is a psalm to her soul
And a passage to her heart.''

    Any suggestions, ideas or thoughts?
  2. Can I record your lyrics? Some are really good.
  3. Wrote a few lines last night

    How many carried a gun?
How many were ready to pull the trigger?
    Who died for fun,
By those who looked in the mirror and saw something bigger?

  5. New concept I've been working on, a spacey kind of song about making music in space. Thoughts on lyrics so far?

11PM and it’s dark in the night
The band reads their music by the moonlight
The lights are going down on the ISS
Spaceman on the jukebox, what’s coming up next?

A chord in a void, G Major rings clear
Followed by C, with no one to hear
The lights are going down on the ISS
Spaceman on the jukebox, what’s coming up next?

A million miles in the sky
Jam session in space, where asteroids fly
But you can’t hear a sound
The space band is jammin’ out

Astronauts and aliens singing out of key
Putting on a show on a moon made of cheese
Watching the stars as Hailey flies by
    All in intergalactic 4/4 time

I've only released one song so far, but it's a good indicator of who I am stylistically. Pop is my favorite album of all time, so perhaps some of that sound found its way into mine. In any case, here's my one song:

    Thanks for listening!

Welcome to the forum, friend Introduce yourself in your own thread and get posting, it'd be great to see another songwriter around the boards!
  7. "Give It Up" wrote this in about 5 or so minutes, really early idea

This road looks familiar, seen it so many times
It’s mapped on your face if you’d just read the lines
The past coming back with a chorus of screams
It’s yelling, it’s coming to tear up your dreams
    But don’t buy in

Give it up, Give it up
    Yeah it’s always the same
Give it up, Give it up
Time to stop with the games
Give it up, Give it up
    No battle to be won
Give it up, Give it up
    It’s already begun

The movie was spoiled as you walked in the door
You know how it ends but just try, to be sure
The past coming back with a chorus of screams
It’s yelling, it’s coming to tear up your dreams
    But don’t buy in

Give it up, Give it up
    Yeah it’s always the same
Give it up, Give it up
Time to stop with the games
Give it up, Give it up
    No battle to be won
Give it up, Give it up
    It’s already begun

But don’t buy in, don’t fall into the trap
You’ve been once, you’ve been twice, you’ve been three damn times now there ain’t no going back
The plots been wrote and my boy there’s no chance of a twist
So let it go, let it go, and you’ll get your wish

Give it up, Give it up
    Yeah it’s always the same
Give it up, Give it up
Time to stop with the games
Give it up, Give it up
    No battle to be won
Give it up, Give it up
    It’s already begun
  8. For being written in 5 minutes, I really, REALLY like that, and can already hear my own interpretation of it in my head. Do you ever set these to piano or guitar and record them? Your Killers cover was quite good, I would love to hear an original by you.

The one constructive criticism I have lyric-wise would be to switch these two bolded lines:

Give it up, Give it up
    No battle to be won
Give it up, Give it up
    It’s already begun

It seems that "No battle to be won" might be a better lyric to let resonate on the end of that chorus. But in the end, its your song, so do with it as you please- but please don't let that one die! Continue to develop it and share it with us when you have the time to record something

Oh I like that change a lot actually. Didn't think of that. And hopefully I'll be able to get something of a recording done. I'm not very good at writing music but I've been trying a lot lately so something's gotta give. And you got it, you'll be the first to hear whatever I come up with.
  10. New song. Sort of intense. Gets me in a dark spot.

    TVM

    Funeral by streetlight
    Laid to rest in black
    Found your destination
    Couldn't make it back
    -
    How many carried a gun?
    How many pulled the trigger?
    Who died for fun?
    Who died for empty fear?
    By those who saw themselves
    Something bigger?
    -
    Shades of a human
    Fight battles blind
    Void of prosecution
    Threadless spools can't unwind

A title bound by cold steel
    Satisfaction candy sweet
    In pursuit without a purpose
    Private reapers sent to meet

    Indignity to millions
    Woe to only few
    Imbalance favors lightness
And guilt is not of you

    A watchmen misaligned
    But linear in thought
    Captivated by a murder
    And unjust havoc brought
    -
    How many carried a gun?
    How many pulled the trigger?
    Who died for fun?
    Who died for empty fear?
    By those who saw themselves
    Something bigger?
    -
A boy not yet a man
    A future not yet found
    A man never a hero
    A savior not around

    How many carried a gun?
    How many pulled the trigger?
    Who died for fun?
    Who died for empty fear?
    By those who saw themselves
    Something bigger?
  11. I like it. Reminds me of Glorified G by Pearl Jam, which is a great song.
  12. I actually was reminded of WMA after I had finished it
