1. Originally posted by Andrew_C:ive probably said this b4, but if the band had of dropped songs 5,6 and 7 and replaced them with Winter, EBW and North Star then imo we would have had the 3rd 'masterpiece' album in our hands. Instead its kind of like a rollercoaster. I still enjoy the album a lot, but the thought of what it could have possibly been makes me sad/mad.

I get what you mean but I fucking LOVE Boots and am so happy it was on the album. I am also quite fond of Crazy and Stand Up. I also don't get as worked up as some people about the whole "not really having a cohesive album "sound" to it". I guess that may come from the fact that I listen to a lot of rap music which often has many producers and sounds on one album.

  2. I don't get why everyone hates on these songs . The album version of Crazy is a very nice song and I love Stand Up Comedy's random phrases but they still aren't my absolute favorite tracks or anything

Now for my rating of the album:
No Line On The Horizon 10/10
    Magnificent 7/10
Moment Of Surrender 11/10 (this song is absolute genius)
    Unknown Caller 9/10
I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight 6/10
    Get On Your Boots 7/10
    Stand Up Comedy 6/10
    Fez: Being Born 8/10
    White As Snow 4/10
    Breathe 6/10
    Cedars Of Lebanon 8/10

  4. I'm rating the songs as I would if I popped the album into my computer and listened to it from start to finish.

Boots live is easily a 10/10 for me.

I also noticed that I'm a lot harsher on some of these songs than most others here...

I guess another factor influencing my ratings is that I've started to rediscover the lyrical genius of ATYCLB.

i also like those 3 songs, but they ruin the flow of the album for me. it would be like listening to Streets, ISHFWILF, WOWY and then song 4 comes on and its Mofo
  6. Well, three years now, and I'm just gonna copy and paste my original post, and make a few changes. Yeah, that's lame, but I'm not intelligent enough to come up with a better idea.

    1. No Line On The Horizon - 9.5/10

    2. Magnificent - 10/10 great song.
    3. Moment of Surrender - 7/10...like it much better now...but the true "Stand Up Comedy" of the album was hearing Eno saying it was his "Greatest moment in his career." Wow...the song will never be that good.
    4. Unknown Caller - Music 9/10, Vocals 2/10. The Oh Oh chorus and the Reboot Yourself lyrics taint Edge's great guitar playing. I can't listen to this one very often. Worst song on the album for me.
    5. I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Crazy Tonight - 7.5/10...if it wasn't "Walk On's weaker cousin," Maybe they would've played the album version live. I rate the live version 5/10. It just sounded like they wanted to play something from Pop, and just made Crazy a Pop song. Since I love Pop, I felt betrayed by the band, that they gave this song the Pop treatment and continued to ignore the actual Pop album.
    6. Get On Your Boots - 8/10...too much like Vertigo, but still good.
    7. Stand Up Comedy - 7.5/10...decent song, but a bit ordinary
    8. Fez-Being Born - Fez: 0/10, Being Born 9.3/10...for an album that was supposed to be all this new groundbreaking stuff, this was one of the two tracks that didn't sound like stuff from their past.
    9. White As Snow - 6/10...ok, but a skip for me.
    10. Breathe - 9.9/10, a great opener...not all that original, but I love the song. Hard to believe that they kept the Crazy Remix in the set and dumped this and TUF.
    11. Cedars Of Lebanon - 7.8/10...borderline good, can't put my finger on it, but missing something.

Should've been on the album category:
Soon 9.9/10...Again, all the talk about how original and groundbreaking the album was...and this is about the only real different sounding thing(along with Being Born)...and they left it off.

Winter 8/10...the music is 9/10, vocal 8/10, and the lryics 5/10. Nice song, but Bono is above the lyrics in this one. The only reason to put the beyond horrible Linear DVD in my player. I could get on a bicycle, ride around, and have someone video it, and put the NLOTH music on in the background, and it would be about the same thing. I'd at least make it a little funny. Having some guy ride his motorcycle around doing nothing had to be a huge waste of film
  7. Its all emotive, but tracks 1 - 4 are up there with anything on Achtung baby, which imo makes them great. The rest are pretty average apart from Breath, which is above average but not quite in the Achtung Baby catagory (although Breath into Acrobat in a live surrounding would be awesome).

    3 years on - average album -
  8. My rating as follows;

No Line On The Horizon 10/10
    Magnificent 10/10 Brilliant
    Moment Of Surrender 8/10
    Unknown Caller 7/10
I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight 8/10
    Get On Your Boots 8/10
    Stand Up Comedy 7/10
    Fez: Being Born 6/10
    White As Snow 8/10
    Breathe 6/10
    Cedars Of Lebanon 7/10

    Runs and hides lol
    Still though a good Album
  9. This would be my rating of the album:

No Line On The Horizon 8/10
    Magnificent 7/10
    Moment Of Surrender 9/10
    Unknown Caller 8/10
I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight 7/10
    Get On Your Boots 7/10
    Stand Up Comedy 6/10
    Fez - Being Born 9/10
    White As Snow 7/10
    Breathe 6/10
    Cedars Of Lebanon 9/10
    --------------------

I would maybe like to swap Boots out for the Fish out of Water remix and Magnificent for the RAC Mix but...I gave Boots a 7/10, I think now, listening to the FOOW remix, it's a 6/10 and this (FOOW) is an 8/10.
  10. Giving this album a listen today and I must say it has aged well on me I don't know whether its the mood I'm in or the fact that I haven't listened to much U2 lately but I'm really enjoying listening to the whole album
  11. Also, the topic title may need some adjusting
