I ust heard it too. So sad for you right now...

Well, enjoy him while you can, and just try to remember the great years he's spent with you all
  2. So the press conference of Schalke is over. Raul said reasons to leave were for family, not money. He didn't say yet where he'll go,still planning.
He thanked the Schalke fans in particular for the love and respect towards him.

Raul will get a farewell game in 2013.

The no. 7 jersey won't be given to another S04 player in the future, in honor of Raul.

Raul will be suggested to be voted into the Schalke Hall of Honor.

You might get an idea what this extraordinary player and honorable gentleman means to us fans. When he walks his last round after next week's final home game vs Berlin, there will be many tears.

Really? I thought only dead players got that honour...
  4. don't tell that to Maradona for example hehe

Ajax doesnt play with number 14 anymore, because of Cruijff and he is still alive

But, although I really love Raul, isnt it a bit excessive to not use a number anymore for a player who ''only'' played 2 season at a club?
  6. Wow That's really... deep and meaningful. I knew he loved Schalke and Schalked loved him, but I didn't know it reached to that extent!

I think it's not about how long he has played for S04, but the way he did it, the way he behaved on and off the field. We had others playing over a decade for the club but who would never ever get this "honor". Several things play part in such a decision, not just the years they were part of the team.

that being said, I've only quoted what they said at the press conference, it's not my personal opinion

I know, but since I dont really follow it that much I really didnt know he was so popular. I still have a Real Madrid shirt here with number 7 Raul here just to prove that is one of my favorite players

By the way, Ronnie since your a Inter fan, will they let Chivu go after this season? And is he still good enough ?
  10. all the honors to Raul but my opinion is that something like that should be done only for players who really make the History of a club .. Maradona, Crujiff and so on
if it's that the case of Raul .. well Shalke history is quite poor .. or a never-happened win at San Siro is that big? kidding Kirsten

if he is still good enough we wouldn't let him leave .. hehe
seriously it's hard this season to say who's still good and who's not
personally i would let him go like some other "old" ones. we need to rebuild and the reconstuction should be done around other senators.
anyway in the last 2 years his performances have decreased a lot
