1. The producer has been accused of borrowing the melody for I Gotta Feeling from I’ll Go Crazy If I Don’t Go Crazy Tonight, which was on the Irish band’s most recent album.

Veteran music-maker and chairman of InterScope Records Jimmy Iovine has revealed that Will.i.am heard the track while producing parts of the 2009 collection No Line On The Horizon.

Jimmy said: “I sent Will.i.am over to the studio to do some remixes on I’ll Go Crazy.

“He works on them for two weeks, comes back and writes I Gotta Feeling.”

Fair play to The Voice coach, though — he had the nerve to admit to Bono himself that he had been inspired by the track.

Jimmy added: “The chords are U2 chords, 100 per cent. Will even told them.”

Will.i.am was pretty brave to reveal that he’d used the band’s tune.

I Gotta Feeling has sold more than 14million copies worldwide and is the most downloaded song of all time. In comparison, U2 sold five million copies of the album that featured their song.

In the unlikely event that Bono becomes strapped for cash, he’s got a good chance of shaking down his old pal for a few pennies in inspiration tax.

It would be a drop in the ocean for the Black Eyed Pea these days, though, thanks to his massive new TV role.

Not only is the star picking up a hefty pay packet from The Voice, but the show is also boosting sales of some of his old tracks.

John Legend’s song Ordinary People, which Will.i.am wrote, is going to have its highest ever UK chart position thanks to a contestant singing it on the show last weekend.

The tune is currently at No3 in the midweek singles chart after Jaz Ellington did a rendition of it.

His version left Will in tears.

No wonder — he was probably thinking about the new safe he’d have to have installed once all the fresh royalties start flooding in.

    here...
  2. I Gotta Feeling, inspired in Crazy Tonight? Really?

C, Em and G chords are 3 of the most common chords in pop-rock music...
  3. I really can't see any connection between those two songs...
  4. This just makes Jimmy Iovine, BEP, and U2 all look bad. Honestly, all artists steal from other artists.
  5. Every artist is a cannibal, every poet is a thief...

just how big was Bono's share in Facebook worth?
He could change his name to 1B$ /ono.

  7. Nope, still don't see it. One song has some crappy singers with auto tune belching out lyrics while a couple of synthesizers play. The other song has a computer beat with a conga player, guitar player, bass player and singer and actually a decent melody.

I don't see it either, my post wasn't a reaction to yours.

I just found it ironic how Bono snippets I Gotta Feeling during the song will.i.am 'stole', while he is in the audience.
  9. why can't they all just get along?

  10. Bono should have given them the track for free. It's one of the worst pieces of crap U2 have ever released.
