1. Avengers Assemble. Awesome
  2. Watching 'Young Frankenstein' now, such a funny film.
  3. Went and saw Act of Valor last night, very good film.
  4. AVENGERRRRRRRRRRS
  5. Avengers was fantastic.
  6. I've only heard good (if not great) things about The Avengers.

I often take a pass on these comic book (sorry, graphic art novel?) flicks but the buzz around this one makes will make it impossible for me to stay away.
  7. Last movie I saw was the midnight premiere of Avengers.

I didn't plan on going until the day before and it was a spur of the moment sort of thing. I'm very glad I made that decision.

I do recommend watching all the other movies surrounding the heroes before going to watch the Avengers. Those would be Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, and Captain America.

While not absolutely necessary to understand the movie, watching them first will give you a deeper sense of appreciation for the universe they created. One of the main criticisms of the movie is that it doesn't portray enough back story on the members of the team. That's not really a valid criticism because each of the recruited heroes has an entire film dedicated to their back story (two in the case of Iron Man).

Long story short, GO WATCH IT!
  8. Is "The Avengers" better than "The Dark Knight"?

  9. God, no. It's great fun and I'll be off to see it again this week, but the films are incomparable. Yes, they both have graphic novel sources, but that's about all they have in common. Now, as for The Dark Knight rises...
  10. Apparently Avengers 2 is already in the works.

Haven't seen Avengers Assemble yet, not usually my kind of thing as RUMMY said. But, I've only heard good things about it so I guess it can't hurt to go and see what it's all about.

  11. I think it would be extremely unfair to compare the two since both are great for very different reasons.

The Dark Knight is a great film that takes full advantage of a universe created in just a single movie whereas The Avengers is a movie that culminates from the intricate weaving to 5 different movies (if I recall) all taking place in the same universe. For that reason, some may call The Avengers a somewhat incomplete film because it doesn't explore much backstory, but add on the additional films and you have a network of films in which The Avengers is a savory conclusion.

It's true that The Avengers 2 is in the works, but it won't be a sequel as you may think. In fact, Iron Man 3 will be the first movie in another series that will lead up to The Avengers 2. Now if they manage to succeed in creating another network of superhero films leading up to another amazing Avengers film, I will say that the people behind that must be cinematic geniuses.

But if you look at the two films from simply a box office perspective, The Avengers destroyed pretty much every single opening day/weekend record in existence, most of them originally held by The Dark Knight.
