1. Whether or not the losses per gig are big enough to make the band go bankrupt is all based on speculation, but what is pretty clear to me is that Coldplay will not be making profits from this tour.

That being said, if cutting the small amount of money spent on fireworks will let them break even, I think they should do it. The fireworks add very little to the show, in my opinion.
  2. I think they spend more money on catering than on fireworks. Seeing which catering service they had the other day in Madrid, I believe I'm not far away from the truth.
  3. If they cut the wristbands before July 9th in DC, I am going to be so bummed... do you think they added those Australian shows (that I think are stadiums?) for the sole purpose of trying to make a larger profit? and another thing is, they may have already made all of the wristbands in one batch, so why not give them out?
  4. I don't think they will cut the wristbands. If they do, it'll be a huge mistake on their part. It's the equivalent of U2 dropping the their entire stage setup in the middle of ZooTV once they realized that it was about to make them go bankrupt.
  5. Wristbands designer&maker (can't remember the name and can't access twitter right now) said the other day they're making over 2.000.000 wristbands this year. And my GF (without knowing my made-up figures) told me he had read somewhere that cost per unit of the wristbands was rumoured to be around 2,50€. So it seems I wasn't very far with my guessings

No way. To even get to Australia/New Zealand is extremely difficult for bands — hence why artists don't make their way there. That makes me deeply sorry for those living down under because they don't get the concerts that Americans or mainland Europeans get.

To answer your question more centrally, they will not make a massive profit when they go to Australasia; they might not even make a profit at all. The chances is that they will breakeven, which is probably going to be the overall financial status at the end of the tour.

To get to Australia & New Zealand, there is some hideous transport costs and sometimes, if your band isn't successful enough, you might not sell out your concerts down under then causing you to lose a lot of money and putting you in the red. I'm sure that won't happen with Coldplay, but it is costing them a lot of money just to get there.

Why do you think they are going to Australia? Because it's a world tour. They need to go to areas all around. That even includes South America — which they have yet to announce — but that is if they can actually get to that region. They might not even have enough money to get there.
  7. Coldplay is big enough to be able to sell out stadiums. I'm pretty sure they could sell out 3 shows at the stadium at La Plata like U2 did.

I don't agree. They could sell out 2, and no more. There wouldn't be high enough demand for a third concert.

    Maybe in Brazil, however.
  9. Depending on price tickets I reckon. Nowadays, and with their level of popularity, they can sell out multiple stadium nights at any major city they want. South America included of course.

On another note: I'm going to make a multicam of the Madrid concert. It was fucking amazing and I don't want to stay idle until someone else does it, I'm taking the lead this time. I have the video and audio sources, I have the time, I have the software and I have the resolution to do it. Fuck the haters, I just realized that I LOVE COLDPLAY
