1. Yes, Matt said it some weeks ago -well, he spoke particularly about Spain since it was an Spanish reporter but it can obviously be applied to everyone else... He said that album would go out on September (which was the 1st confirmation), then they would do an arena tour during the fall/winter and then stadiums for spring and summer.
  2. I sure hope I'll get to see them.

Those of you on Twitter may have seen Matt's recent comment about the direction for the new album which is apparently going to be a 'christian gangsta rap jazz odyssey, with some ambient rebellious dubstep and face melting metal flamenco cowboy psychedelia.' Sounds interesting! '

so he wasnt taking the piss with this
  4. ^^^ that last line isnt meant to be apart of the quote, im just hopeless with computers.

    September

I think that description by Matt means they don't want to tell us what it will sound like. Or it'll sound like... Well, everything.

What we have seen is some pics of a lot of musicians in the studio.
  6. I'm not gonna go as far as to say that Muse is doing what Coldplay did because I actually see Coldplay's direction as a step forward compared to what they've been known to do before.

Although it is just a teaser, I'm not too fond of the whole "dubstepesque" theme. I do like the idea of their album being called The 2nd Law (of thermodynamics).

U could b on to something there wrt the 2nd law of thermodynamics. The entropy and randomness in the universe always increasing. Would Matt even know about this though?
  8. Yes, he knows lots about Physics.

And yeah, the 2nd Law was widely discussed yesterday in Twitter... It makes all the sense, for sure.
  9. But I really, really, REALLY hate dub step!! Of muse do this I will be extremely disappointed... The teaser sounds amazing imo, until the dub step kicks in. Just imagine if U2 went in a dub step direction... I'd probably cry!!

I'm pretty sure they know quite a bit about thermodynamics and I'm 95% certain that the album title "The 2nd Law" most definitely refers to the 2nd law of thermodynamics. All the talk about energy moving from highly concentrated sources to disperse sources is a direct description of the 2nd law. I'm not sure what the robot is saying, but I think it's repeating "unsustainable," which totally plays into the natural flow of energy by the 2nd law.

But here's what I like about Muse's twist to the theme of the second law. Muse's albums tend to spend a lot of time talking about power; who has it, how is it used, how to take it back. By making their album titled "The 2nd Law," the theme of power is continued. Systems of order will always degrade to systems of disorder where the energy, or power, becomes disperse and useless. At this time, a 2nd, or new law, will have to emerge to reestablish order to the system. Essentially, "The 2nd Law" can be a continuation of "The Resistance." If "The Resistance" was all about taking the power back from those who abuse it, "The 2nd Law" could be about reestablishing order with that power. Or it could be about the inevitable decline of all established orders as per the 2nd law of thermodynamics.

In any case, the nerd in me is quite happy that they've decided to name their new album "The 2nd Law." Now it's up to them to produce a masterpiece with it. But I will admit that the dubstep is not a promising start...
