1. Hi all

I'm planning on going to London around Christmas. I know there's lots of things worth visiting and I will check out websites and cityguides and stuff but it's always nice to have some tips from locals or people who have been there before. So I was wondering, anyone here who can give me some must-see tips or who's willing to let me in on some welkept citysecrets or maybe even knows about some U2-related spots?
All sorts of tips are welcome. Thanks in advance
  2. Hi An,never done the tourist bit myself down London, only been there for football & concerts.

London Eye springs to mind, next the Houses Of Parliament,Big Ben,Tower Of London etc.
    You've got Buckingham Palace,Trafalger Square,Downing Street,Carnaby Street,shopping in Oxford Street as well.

U2 related, catch a Tube and maybe take a tour around the "new" Wembley Stadium. The Astoria,Sheperds Bush Empire,Marquee Club....off the top off my head.I'm sure someone else will come up with something better.......
  3. Things you must visit/see (becasue why come all the way to London and not!):-

    Buckingham Palace
    Trafalgar Square
    Piccadilly Circus
    Houses of Parliament/Big Ben
    Tower of London
    Tower Bridge
London Eye (might be worth getting tickets on the internet if you're here at Xmas as it always gets busy then)
Harrods (but it's no way near what it used to be)

    Tourists like to visit:-

    Madam Tussauds
    Natural History Museum
    St. Pauls Cathedral
Oxford Street (where most of the shops are)
    Covent Garden (theatres etc)
    Leicester Square (cinemas etc)

    Music related there is:-

    Abbey Road
Hard Rock Cafe - fairly generic but it was the first one, does have live music sometimes and has some U2 stuff in it

That's all that immediately comes to mind for now. I'll post back if I think of anything else.
Not sure any of us from the UK here actually live or have lived in London so I have no insider tips I'm afraid. I'll ask around my mates and let you know.

Edit Was obviosuly writing this while gmc posted!! Very similar lists...
  4. Thanks to both of you, I'll make a list of all the suggestions and try to fit in as many as possible! About time i visit this great place!

Oeeh...I'm getting jealous..From what I've heard from friends, Harrods is great. And the usual spots, like Times Square and the Big Ben.

Don't you mean Trafalgar Square? Times Square is a few thousand miles to the west in New York.
