    If I want to save my ZooTV Live From Sydney DVD on HDD *WITHOUT ANY LOSS IN VIDEO AND AUDIO* what program should I use?

  3. Yeah, on my PC, just to make a reserve copy for the black day when DVD fails.
    So I want an exact copy of DVD on PC.

    That's impossible. The original size of the files is over 7 GB (the discs they use are bigger than ours) so, evidently in any kind of backup you willl get some loss.
    I use "DVD Shrink", a light program which allows you to backup the exact files (obviously with some loss) to a suitabe 4,7 GB disck or to your hard disc. Another option is that you can edit ("re-author") the files you want. For example, I did a backup of the Sydney DVD removing 2 audio channels and all the extras, therefore, I had "less loss" than if I had backup-ed the whole DVD.

    I thought u2torrents always stressed that they accept only lossless material.
  9. DVD Shrink 3.2 is the very latest, but it's not available on just any site due to DCMA US regulations of contravening copyright laws and of course not for Mac or Linux just yet (but can be now if you make use of Parallels or BootCamp).

    Just be aware that each DVD that you do create can take up to 7GB of HDD space, and that's quite a bit - but if you're like some of us here, you'll have a backup drive of some sort (namely 250GB or more) to back them up on to as I do. Converting the files to VOB can also help as HandBrake is able to convert VOBs to MP4 format for your iPod and other media players, which is awesome.

    For the Mac, one program that stands out is MacTheRipper which is free from the link below.

    Always has been that way. The DVDs are always inferior to the original version. I know from Sydney 2006-11-13 DVD it came on two discs and was originally over 16GB in size - and the clever bugger has been able to get it to half. Of course, it's not a huge loss in quality but still you can notice it as it looks kinda grainy. Unless you're using $500 software or know how to do it for free (open-source or not) it is hard to get it to look like the original.

    Remember: CICO (Crap In Crap Out).

    I removed both audio channels leaving only 5.1 and it sounds great. I didn't even have to lose any quality like Sergio.

    I noticed it was awfully system intensive. That's why I didn't like it.

    You can say that again. It's the only program that makes my iBook freeze.
