yeh, that's what I meant. I was predicting that if it is not performing to top-notch standard (which it won't be); because you are actually able to use your fingers, eyes and brain; there will be a release of hellish fury on Apple from the Belfast direction.

Unless they think that a background hiss is what people want from a "top-of-the-range" music player..

It's a real shame, because you've been fucked around so much. I've been really lucky and have never encountered this with my iPods and I hope, following your experience, that I don't have to.

i'm certainly more than a little pissed off but I don't know if i could talk one the phone for another 20 minutes who knows less about english than he does about ipods. I'm afraid this will probably be my last one. You can't even have the thing on full volume (though thats the EU and not apples fault)

I bet you're pissed I would be. The "Help Desk" certainly seems to be anything but..

Assuming (and I know it's a biggie) that the hiss is mysteriously better; have you tried this for your volume dilemma?

    GoPod

Not sure if it works with classic mind.

Apple have blocked all 3rd party apps (including GoPod) for the Classic. I'm sure GoPod will work away around it though

Haven't they blocked most of the other things like docks/audio/cases/TV out etc too.. ..

Not sure what they were thinking with that. I at least expected to take the cable etc hit when I got the iTouch as it was totally new. But the Classic was supposed to just be an update..
  8. most cases are still good but the TV out no longer works without a dock (it used to be through the headphone jack). A lot of other accessories that also worked on previous models are no longer compatible. Strange strange move and Apple didn't even release new accessories for the Classic (and still haven't)

Yeh, there's nothing out yet for the Touch either (can't even get a case - I'm having to use a gaudy iPod sock at the moment)

thats what I resorted too. Better than I expected but annoying having to take it out all the time. My girlfriend tried to cut out holes for the screen and wheel but just ended up scratching the aluminium front. Urrgghh
