Edit: Too late. I went on Amazon, looked at prices, changed it to Australian currency and it said on the next screen: 'Congratulations! You've just bought this item - Medazzaland'. Oh well, at least I've got it now.
yeah i got it on ebay for a relatively inexpensive price. it's not bad, better than pop trash. a bit of a mixed bag as far as cohesive albums go, though.
I'm interested in the more Rhodes-Curcurullo experimental side which I've heard is more prominent on that record than any of the others save for Pop Trash and parts of The Wedding Album. Have you had a chance to hear the new album?
With the AOTD as above, I've got the same opinions on it as I did two years ago: it's over-produced on some tracks, some of it is mind-blowing, the piano and orchestral elements are incredible and Buckethead is all that matters. Hope something new eventually comes out.
Buckethead saves CD from being a bloated mess of unnecessary piddly guitars and overproduction.
as far as Medazzaland goes, yeah its definitely their most experimental. AYNIN is a great album too, love the title track and Mediterranea especially. saw them on its tour late last year, they still put on a great show.
I don't think anyone should have expected anything less though with ChiDem - a simple album, no way.
Anyway on the topic of Medazzaland. If there's lots of strings, lots of great guitar melodies and awesome use of keyboards, it'll be my sort of album. And yes AYNIN is so good - The Man Who Stole A Leopard and Mediterranea are my top two on there. I was more excited at the show to hear the new stuff, left the venue while Wild Boys was on to get one of the tour books. God I can't stand that song.
