We arrived at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam at around 7. Just looking around at the venue to see what it looks like, we came to the conclusion it's a pretty awesome venue. We were just having one problem with the venue, somehow the servicing of drinks is pretty bad. It's 2 or 3 people to help just 1 costumer, so it took quite some while to get some beers..
After we bought a t-shirt each, to remember we were really there, we went into the concerthall itself. Turned out we were just in time for the supportact, I still have no idea who they were. They didn't impress me and I wasn't paying much attention. That was until the leadsinger introduced a special-guest, and a friend of mine said: 'isn't that Eddie what's his name?' So Eddie Vedder actually joined the supportact for their last song, which not a lot of people noticed..
After that it was just waiting for the real show to start, which took about 45 minutes. For me the show started with Corduroy, it wasn't until I got home and saw the setlist that I saw Interstellar Overdrive. For me Corduroy worked great as an opener, with an amazing intro! After that they kept some amazing songs coming, with Why Go, Given to Fly, which was also just perfect and Brain of J. Brain of J. was an amazing surprise, and for me it was nice, cause I just bought Yield like a week ago! Then came Amongst the Waves, which was pretty awesome since I hadn't seen anything from Backspacer live (I last saw them in 2006), so that was pretty cool
After that Eddie started talking in Dutch, to introduce the band and himself. What he said in dutch was: 'this is gonna be the first real rock and roll show in this new venue, so tonight we will be writing history. The rest of the night I'll be talking English to you, since my dutch sucks.
What followed was an amazing version of Small Town. It worked really well, and the fans all joined in singing.
Then came In Hiding and Even Flow. During Even Flow, Eddie let the fans sing the last chorus, as he usually does. Then from Pearl Jam came World Wide Suicide, which I normally don't really like, but somehow it got to me here, so I'll probably be listening to it more. Following wws were Rats, Lukin and Not For You, which was just a lot of guitars and fans jumping al around the floor!
After Not for You, Eddie started talking about his kids. He said that all their kids were at the show. He said he didn't want to talk about why all their kids wanted to go to Amsterdam of all places. He didn't want to get in trouble with authorities and child services.
He dedicated the next song: Better Things to all their kids. It was a song that could very well have been written in Amsterdam! It was a good cover from a great song.
Then came one of the highlights for me, which was Nothingman. Mostly because of the sentence: 'he who forgets will be destined to remember'. It was another chance for the audience to join Eddie in singing the song. Following Nothingman were the last two songs of the main set: the Fixer and Do the Evolution, which were both very well received. Especially Do the Evolution got a great reception.
After the encore break they came back in style. First with an amazing rendition of Last Kiss, which is one of my favourite covers, and then Just Breathe. I was with my dad who played this song on his 2nd wedding, so it was pretty cool to see this one live!
The rest of the 1st encore was just great. Comatose was amazing. Then Unthought Known, which is my favourite from Backspacer, which was just amazing. The closer of the 1st encore, Porch, was just magical.
The 2nd encore was just as surprising, with Eddie saying they would be playing some requests. But what he did was point to someone in the audience and say this one's for you! This he did with Smile and after that with 'the disease that is green, this is Green Disease!'. After that came another cover, this time from the Who: Love, Reign O'er Me. Then came the highlight for most fans: Black! This was the most intense moment during the show, and I think the song lasted for 8 or 9 minutes with the audience just singing al the time. It was followed by Rockin' in the Free World, which was played with the lights on. You could see the mess in the concerthall with beercups everywhere, people jumping around the place. It was just an amazing version!
People were thinking of going home when the actual closer came: Indifferende. This was a well received surprise for everyone!
All in all, they wrote history, and gave an amazing first rock and roll concert in the new venue!
I saw these notes somewhere on the internet: The Kinks' cover Better Things was played for the first time ever, and dedicated to the children of the band. Green Disease and Smile were played as front row requests. Last Kiss had not been played in Europe since 2006. Alive had been played for 22 shows in a row, and was omitted for the first time since the PJ Festival show in 2011. The last time Alive wasn't played in Europe, was also in Holland (Rockin Park Nijmegen 2010).

They are so energetic and know how to get the crowd going, Eddie is an amazing frontman. The Ziggo Dome is a very cool place, the sound is good and so is the view. I thought the setlist was pretty good although I didnt know some of the song but the encore was GREAT, just GREAT. Crown Of Thornes, Alive, Baba O Riley and Yellow Ledbetter![]()
Also I loved Better Man, Release, Daugther, Gloriefied G and Animal.
It kinda sucked I didnt get to hear my favorite song (Black) but the whole concert was just amazing, really going again next time they come here.
Now im of the get some more sleep
Oh I completely forgot Nothing As It Seems

i didn't know about Tom Petty joining them .. what i know is that X members joined for Rocking in the free World ..
