1. The most disheartening thing about U22 for me were Adam's comments at the back. I always thought that U2 were very in touch with their fans, but Adam shows great shock at the U2.com subscribers voting unanimously for "bad". I mean, really? You didn't know that song is perhaps the ultimate of ultimate fan favourites?
  2. I can actually understand Adam's position regarding his remark. We have to remember that there's always going to be a distinct difference in view between the creator and the consumer, in this case, the band and their fans.

Bad is a pretty old song, so I'm willing to bet the band would be asking themselves if they can still pull out this old material and get the same response they had before. Remember that this is also the first time U2.com has done something where they've put all these songs head to head and allowed the fans to vote. Until this point, the only real response they would get regarding old material is from the audience at their concerts. Even though 360 was a massive production, the online voting allowed an even greater number of fans to express their opinion.

I see Adam's remarks as one that recognizes that it's not just the hardcore fans that wait in line for days who love Bad. It's the casual fans, the new fans, the old fans - all of them - who love Bad. I actually think they will take this information into consideration when they plan out their next tour; how many old songs to play, which ones to rotate, etc.

THIS. I think with the online voting they probably figured more young people would be in touch with the whole online+community thing than the older fans are (this could be a horrible assumption too) and he was surprised to see that song make it onto the album for that reason. Surprised that young people know and love the song, because it's an older warhorse for sure. One of the few that they actually dropped at one point as a regular. I think I'll still be surprised if it returns as a regular next tour (I'm not even sure I'd want it to) but you never know, after this who knows what songs they'll pull out.

I also think they'll start thinking about bringing back older hits that they thought were forgotten too. I'm sure they were just as surprised to see songs such as One Tree Hill, Zooropa, The Fly, Unforgettable Fire, and Ultraviolet on there as well. Somehow I think next tour they'll be doing the same thing. Digging up older fan favourites to surprise their new fans. Let's cross our fingers that that includes looking at Pop!
  4. U22 finally arrived in Croatia!
It's awesome to hear Bono singing "O lijepa Croatia, O draga Croatia, O slatka Croatia" at the end of Beautiful Day

Possibly too early to hope But absolutely! I'd love to hear some more Pop in the setlist. Even if it's just on rotation. All in all, I agree with the second paragraph. The feedback they received from fans from U22 should be used wisely. Subscribers didn't vote for songs like Sunday Bloody Sunday or Pride for a reason. Maybe it's time to really freshen up.
  6. Pride can be put on rotation as it was for 360. But even though people didn't vote for Sunday Bloody Sunday, a U2 show does not feel complete without it. And if they want to have a "political" section, it can't happen without Sunday Bloody Sunday. So the only way they would drop Sunday Bloody Sunday is if they dropped the politics and activism while on tour. And we all know that this will never happen.

But if they use songs from Pop, I hope they rework them somehow. Only a couple songs from that album sound complete as they were last performed live - Please (Popmart performances), Staring at the Sun, and maybe Gone. Aside from that, the only other songs I would even consider taking are Mofo and Wake Up Dead Man. Discotheque can be good if they figure out to make it work. It would work even better if they figured out how to make it work with the I'll Go Crazy remix.
  7. + Last night on Earth!
Holy Joe would be good addition to any setlist, perhaps acoustic?

and finally a decent version of Do You Feel loved?

I think the response to Zooropa and HMTMKMKM can also build towards a Pop revival.
  8. ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡STRONG OFF TOPIC WARNING!!!!!!!

  9. Let's remember that while Zooropa was the album they produced on the road, Pop was the album they never finished. I hope they revisit the material and bring a sense of closure to some of the songs. Or maybe they've settled on Pop being what it is now.

    Legend

I'm going to do a Ross and say that I loved Streets from the moment I heard it in my first full U22 run through.
