1. some words by Dave about his new project

“‘Sound City’ is a film about America’s greatest unsung recording studio,” Grohl said. “Deep in California’s sun-burnt San Fernando Valley, it was the birthplace of legend. It was witness to history.”

Grohl conceived the film after purchasing the Neve 8028 recording console from Sound City Studios last year. That console, built in 1972, is regarded as a “crown jewel” of analog recording equipment and has been used for recording Neil Young, Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, Cheap Trick, Guns N’ Roses, Fear, Rage Against the Machine, Slipknot, Nine Inch Nails and Metallica.

“Sound City” will include interviews with the artists and producers, focus on the albums recorded there, discuss the human element of music in an age of technology and feature performances from many of the artists.
  2. FOO FIGHTERS ‘MILLION DOLLAR DEMO’ SONGS LEAK

Foo Fighters recorded a different version of One By One in 2002 before scrapping it and re-recording it. The band were fighting a lot at the time and almost broke up. The discarded album is known as the ‘Million Dollar Demo.’ Instrumentals from the demo have been leaking and two full songs now have: Have It All and Come Back. I much prefer this new version of Have It All.

  3. These have been around for awhile- clips of them anyway. Really interesting story as to how they came around. Something about the album being incredibly overproduced, so Dave and the guys scrapped every demo and recorded the album fresh and without too much production, and that's what you hear on the album.
  4. I tuned into that and they stopped after Learn to Fly...was very disappointed. Did it ever pick up later? I only kept listening for another 15 or so minutes.
  5. Here too, I thought it had to do something with my horrible internet connection.... But what I read on some other forum it went through after Learn To Fly....

Shame we missed it, since I read that it was very good. However it kinda dissapointed me that they did almost the same thing as on Pinkpop 2011, same setlist (If I remember correctly) and Dave does the same talks

Holy fuck. As my close favourite band, behind U2. Just wow. They practically could not have played a better set. GIMME FUCKING STITCHES, A+ET & wattershed. Only thing is all the covers.. Still, I'd trade a U2 gig to see a set like this

  10. a pic that sends me some shivers of melancholy .. Krist recording for the Sound City documentary

    where's Kurt?!?!
