  7. I never really got into SG until BMF - and I found that a bit challenging at first. I now think it's a great album but I have never really been able to appreciate too much before it.

    For the record - and NOT because of "Black Hole Sun" - Superunknown is still my favourite SG album. It's fantastic!
  8. considering what came after Ultramega OK sounds certainly too much crude and unripe, Cornell too was never satisfied about what came out from those recordings .. Flowers and Beyond the Wheel rise from there.
    the first EPs were even better

    i wouldn't forget Louder Than Love Matt .. some very good songs there too .. Ugly Truth, Get On The Snake, Gun, Hands All Over, Love Loud .. certainly worse than the 2 absolute masterpieces you named .. the arrival of Ben Shepherd gave them a good jump in quality.
    they couldn't do a mediocre album with BMF because of the year of its release hehehe

    1991, as we've said (many times) before, was indeed a phenomenal year for rock music.

    Yes, Louder Than Love has some solid tunes (the ones you've mentioned) but I never really gave the album as a whole a proper listen.

  11. BMF is certainly a "rawer" album and I can appreciate why you would prefer it. They beefed up the production on Superunknown.

    As I mentioned before, I jumped on the grunge train in 1991 when BMF had already been released. I eagerly anticipated the release of Superunknown so that probably adds to my preference for it. It also got a lot more radio/video play so it is certainly etched into my brain - it's very "1994."
