1. I'm Italian I was only 7 years .. I just know that something bad had happened.....I was very shocked by the images I was seeing.
I took this situation very seriously because it is not a natural disaster ..... this was wanted. And in me this sense of frustration is born ...
    We will never forget
  2. I was only 12. I'll never forget where I was that sad, sky blue day. Being from Chicago, another mega city in the US, I was terrified the Sears Tower was next. Still, 10 years later, I still wake up in the middle of the night because of nightmares that something similar might happen in my city.

Bless all the heroes of the NYPD and FD.
  3. I don't know if any of you know the story of the Sting's album "All This Time". In case you don't, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...All_This_Time

They had the intention to webcast the whole show, but as a mark of respect, they decided to broadcast only the first song, "Fragile".

This is the full speech Sting gave before the song (it's cut on the high-quality video but present in the low-q one):

"Thank you everybody. I'd like to say a few words before we start.

This was to be a very joyous occasion tonight. After the horrific events of today, it simply can't be a joyous occasion. We have three choices, one is the show must go on, the other is not to do anything at all, and the band and I came up with a compromise we'd like to have one number on the webcast for the rest of the world to see and then shut it off as a token of respect to those who lost their lives and those who have lost loved ones in this terrible event.

And then it's up to you and how you feel. I'd like a minute of silence after that song, I don't want any applause, I just want us to stand there and think about what happened today. It's difficult for all of us. I'm angry, I'm confused, I'm frightened, and I don't really want to give this meaningless act of violence any credence. It's totally and utterly pompous. We'll sing this song for those people who have lost their lives. Thank you."

And this is the song. You can see how he struggles not to cry - it happens to me also.

Low quality video (full speech and minute of silence at the end, but webcast quality):

High quality video (edited speech and end of the song - they added applause although Sting didn't want them):

This is utterly beautiful and sad
  4. I visited the Imperial War Museum in Manchester yesterday, just on the off chance. Me and my brother were out and about near there and with free entry, we decided to go in. I've wanted to visit the 9/11 memorial in New York since seeing a documentary series shown on TV here in the UK about the plans and construction process.

Anyway, to my complete surprise, there was a section of steel structure that is believed to be from the North tower right here in Manchester. We stood and looked at it for a while, completely silent. I had no idea that a part of that day was sitting right on my doorstep. We didn't stay in the museum long, but seeing that scrap of steel from the World Trade Center was well worth the time we were in there.

  5. That's scary and moving
  6. I was in the Imperial War Museum in London in December and they have such a collon of steel as well displayed near the front entrance. Big impact.
  7. I'm in lower Manhattan (where I live) at the 9/11 memorial....11 YEARS have passed since the worst attack in American history.....they say time heals.......well....I'm not healed.....

let us NEVER FORGET what happened on that day......3000 innocent souls were taken from us ....murdered for going to work....murdered for being Husbands,Wives,Mothers,Fathers,Sons,Daughters.....all murdered.......Im still in shock.

My 7 year old daughter asked me this question, this morning,as I walked her to school "Why did those bad people do that to us Daddy ?" ....all I could say, after a few minutes..."I don't know...........I don't know"
  8. Eleven years, and really, it only seems like yesterday that millions of us were watching the events unfold in front of us on TV. I hope that al those visiting the memorial today can feel peace at the site where many loved ones were lost.
  9. I still have clear memories from watching the pictures on the TV. I was just five years old.
  10. I watch the video of the 2002 Super Bowl halftime show on this day every year. Never fails to make me get emotional. Never forget
  11. 12 years. Rest in peace...

  12. wow! very touching picture.

    RIP
