1. Saw this in "Off the Record" on the @U2 site and though it might be fun to adopt the idea for our own little poll - so what do we reckon?

These are my choices for this year
(I've left a blank if I have no opinion)

Best Album: Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace - Foo Fighters
Runner Up: In Rainbows - Radiohead. Might go to No. 1 but I haven't listened to it enough yet
Best Single:Open Your Eyes - Snow Patrol
    Best Album Title:
    Best Live Act: Muse
Worst Public Descent into Hell:Britney Spears
Worst Release by a Legend: That Eagles one...
Best Release by a Legend: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band - Magic

    What would your choices be?
  2. Agreed on Magic.
  3. Don't really know how I feel about the Foo Fighters album being best of the year. I was excited to get it but it just seems like something is missing. I can't put my finger on it.
  4. Agreed on both magic and spears ...don't have much opinion about the rest
  5. I think based on the replies so far that I haven't been very clear

I took the idea of the topic from @U2 and listed my own choices for the year. So I was asking what everyone elses choices would be - ie what is your favourite album this year, who do you think has been best live this year etc etc.

Could those who've posted already have another look?

I've amended by first post to make it clearer too.

For me it was the most consistent record I've listened to this year, along with Bruce (but he had his own little win anyway in the other category). I thought the record had a nice mix of different types of songs. Everyone I've asked has their own favourite and that has to be a sign of a good record doesn't it? (rather than everyone choosing the obvious "hit" for example).
Personally I like Let It Die the best, but think Home is probably the most emotive song Dave Grohl has written
  7. I got the idea of the topic, but when I said I don't have much opinion on the others I meant that I can't really choose, haven't been listening to the new stuff, so I really have no idea, I could only aree with the "hell" thing being britney and magic being what you said it is, cause I know about these two :-\

Fair enough! I didn't know myself whether I'd been clear when I re-read it so I thought I'd clarify just in case!

I myself had no opinion on one of the titles....!

Home is definitely a great song. I like Erase/Replace and Statues

Is it me or is there a Beatles vibe to Statues?

Yeah I think there's a little there. I'm hearing it in the phrasing.

  12. Well for me the best album of 2007 is In Rainbows by Radiohead followed closely by Neon Bible by Arcade Fire . Most underrated album of the year for me would be An End Has A Start by Editors.
    Any other suggestions ?
