1. Hmm should i dl it or wait? I've been avoiding all the new songs but the thought of new Muse makes me want to sex wee.
  2. One week to go if you're set to wait. It's no big deal I think, if you're keen on buying the music you like you'll buy it anyways (I will do it on the release day), so why not download it and nejoy it one week more¿? haha
  3. Muse is weird for me because I feel like I can't listen to most of their songs repeatedly without becoming pissed off at everything/wanting to overthrow the government. Madness was a nice treat because it doesn't fit in that category, but I think I'll wait before downloading it and even longer before buying it.

    We've heard that before

Where there is political/apocalpytical yadda yadda in Stockholm Syndrome? Muscle Museum? Sing For Absolution? Starlight? Bliss? New Born? Feeling Good? Falling Down? Cave? Uno? In Your World?

Nah, the "apocalyptical" songs are very few in their catalogue, you shouldn't be pissed at them, and enjoy the rest of their superb music instead.
  5. I have to be honest, I gave the album 3 complete listens and I hate it. The only songs I enjoy are Supremacy and Animals. Panic station sounds like the worst of 80s music in 2012 and I'm sorry but 2 songs sung by Chris is 2 too many. He's an amazing bass player but Matt is the person I wanna hear. Add 2 instrumentals and a prelude and your left with 8 songs. I am very upset with the album but I'll still see them when they tour because i know they put on an amazing live show. I honestly haven't been this disappointed with an album since Incubus' last album. I'm glad most of you guys are enjoying it, I really wish I was.

Yeh i folded and listened to it now, comes out friday in Australia so not long to wait anyway, i'll still buy it of course.

  7. Hahaha, what did you expect for the Incubus album?
  8. I'm about halfway through it and I gotta say so far I'm not particularly impressed...Muse songs almost always take forever to grow on me though so I wouldn't read too much into my opinion so far
  9. I agree with almost all of Fabian's song ratings except I might flip the numbers for Supremacy and Madness. I also agree with Ali that Madness probably got my expectations a little but too high. I also don't get the two Chris tracks. They're not awful but Matt is so good I don't understand why you wouldn't have him sing every song as was also said by Nick.

So my point is i like you guys and your opinions haha

The anarchist feel doesn't necessarily come from the lyrical content of the songs (although there are some songs that clearly state so). I'm just talking about the general feel of the song, extremely rough riffs and drum beats and so on. Stockholm Syndrome is choc full of those aspects. Muse's songs exist on two opposite extremes of the spectrum. You've got the extremely rough, almost rage-like energy in many of their songs and you have extremely mellow songs that can sometimes feel like they drag on forever. Ironically, these two extremely present an interesting parallel to the human experience as moments of intense high energy are often followed by moments of extraordinarily low energy. It's more of a personal preference thing for me.

Also, the new album is free to listen through iTunes at the moment, so people can sample it before committing to a download (seriously, right?).
  11. Well, that polarity in the music is one of the things that define them and their style, in my opinion.

  12. It's definitely their style. I've yet to see any band with such a polarity among songs.

Unfortunately, that sort of polarity isn't something I can listen to all the time. When I'm in those moods, the songs fit perfectly. But most of the time I find myself right in the middle region.
