1. Dave Grohl says his band Foo Fighters is officially taking a break.

  2. Thats too bad
  3. Hey everyone...

Dave here. Just wanted to write and thank you all again from the bottom of my heart for another incredible year. (Our 18th, to be exact!) We truly never could have done any of this without you...

Never in my wildest dreams did I think Foo Fighters would make it this far. I never thought we COULD make it this far, to be honest. There were times when I didn't think the band would survive. There were times when I wanted to give up. But... I can't give up this band. And I never will. Because it's not just a band to me. It's my life. It's my family. It's my world.

Yes... I was serious. I'm not sure when the Foo Fighters are going to play again. It feels strange to say that, but it's a good thing for all of us to go away for a while. It's one of the reasons we're still here. Make sense? I never want to NOT be in this band. So, sometimes it's good to just... put it back in the garage for a while...

But, no gold watches or vacations just yet... I'll be focusing all of my energy on finishing up my Sound City documentary film and album for worldwide release in the very near future. A year in the making, it could be the biggest, most important project I've ever worked on. Get ready... it's coming.

Me, Taylor, Nate, Pat, Chris, and Rami... I'm sure we'll all see you out there... somewhere...

Thank you, thank you, thank you...

    Dave
  4. I don't understand why they are going on hiatus. They had a massive break between Echoes Pish Silence Shit and Wasting Light, now they're taking a hiatus? You have Dave Grohl talking about how in-ear monitors aren't rock and roll, and how this & that isn't rock and roll. Is taking a hiatus in this situation rock and roll? Not at all. I just simply don't understand.

This is why I sometimes cannot stand Dave Grohl. He's loved all around but some people seem to miss the fact that he can be a right dick sometimes.
  5. This is no good news for anyone. I wish his words of love towards the band members and their music are true and they come back soon. I'm not the biggest fan around but I'd definitely would like to see them sometime.
  6. So would I, I'd love to see them. I missed the opportunity to see them at Leeds, then they go on a break AGAIN.
  7. i don't understand your reaction Kieran (angry?) .. on twitter too
he could keep silent and do whatever he's in his mind and then come back woth Foos who knows when
he could say Foos are disband and then come back in a sort of reunion (hateful)
he have simply and honestly said what he feels he'll be in the next future (rest from the band and other project going on) and who knows till when

i don't get you this time
  8. It's easy. They had a break between 2007 and 2011. Long enough in my eyes.. Now they are going on hiatus and christ knows how long that is going to be. It's just that going on hiatus is such a popular thing these days. Just because you are tired or want to do some shitty solo project. You only live once and for a certain number of years, why don't you make full of the band that you love and that everyone loves. I also said that Dave Grohl is one for saying that something isn't rock and roll - for example, remember his in-ear monitor rant? If he's going to say what is rock and roll and what isn't, I'll say that going on hiatus is not rock and roll. Bands deserve a break at points, I agree, but going on hiatus when you only released an album and toured for a year for the first time in 3 or 4 years? Sorry, I don't agree with Foo Fighters going on hiatus. It might be selfish of me, but it's the truth. Grohl acts like this massive rock and roll guy who is somehow proclaimed as "the nicest guy in rock" when he's talking shit about other bands. How does that make you the nicest guy in rock? He's a softy really but has a bit of a twattish attitude at times.

If you don't agree with me, fair enough, but that's what I think of Dave Grohl.

  9. uhm they seem to be very good reasons for me .. does he have to go on with Foos, even if he doesn't feel it, just to please you (read fans), labels, to make as money as possible, to win grammys? .. he's not that kind since lets say Scream.
i think he's one of very few with this attitude that i believe every artist should have
i don't agree with you at all but of course i'm not trying to make you change your mind .. just discussing

by the way what are the shitty solo/side projects? Queens of the Stone Age? Them Crooked Voltures? the next one? (well lets wait to watch/listen before hehe)
  10. I used that sentence in a general sense, I didn't use it in a Dave Grohl sense. It just seems like the thing to do these days.

Of course, Dave Grohl has some great side projects, as does Jack White, but a lot of the side projects that happen can be shocking.

We know he wants to go on with the Foo Fighters. I think they had to go on straight after Wasting Light. That album proved what they were after a couple of terrible albums before that. It was straight-forward rock, like their debut album. They had to prove that they were that again, in my opinion.
  11. maybe he knows within himself that he wtih the Foos would not be that at this time
  12. fuck
