1. [Also posted on U2T but thought I'd hit up U2S]

So while things have been all quiet on the western front, projects still remain in the works. Especially my favorite--audio mixing projects! So if anybody is curious in being a focus group for a mixing shoot-off, you're reading the right thread.

In the link is a zip with 5 different mp3s, all of One>Streets. All mixed from exactly the same sources, and there are three different folks attempting their hand at these.

Each file has been loudness matched to -16 LUFS under the ITU-R BS.1770-2 loudness standards, so loudness should be pretty uniform.

Give them a spin, and offer feedback. Enjoy!

  2. Im finding it fun to try and find my mix and Bobs, right now I vote for mix 2.
  3. You're not an unbiased source!
  4. 3 or 4 for me, 2 sounds too thinny, 1 sounds muddy in comparison. 5 sounds really similar to 3 and 4 but one has to choose somewhow. 3 or 4 is how I'd prefer my favorite show to sound like.
  5. 4 for me
  6. I cant really decide between 3-5, tend to 5.
  7. 3-5 all sound great in my opinion. If I had to choose, I'd go for number 5.
  8. Funny too, because I think 4 sounds very different than the rest of them.

3 and 5 are almost identical with the exception of some minor reverb settings.
  9. I know there is a difference but cant really decide what i like better.

Can't believe Bono's voice is so bad while with audience it doesn't sound that bad.
  10. Haha, you pay the price with clarity. I should toss up some clips of raw Bono microphone that I have from a few shows.

Any other feedback from folks? Details on your preferences?
  11. Raw Bono mic clips, cant wait for that We discussed those a year ago or so on U2T briefly. Is there a real difference between sound quality? Obviously it is Bono only without metronome, but I am curious how much signal processing is done on his voice in the IEMs.
  12. Ah yes. Its more of EQ + some mild compression + reverb added to his vocals. A bum note is still a bum note, they don't run any autotune for the show as far as I can tell.
