1. And here we have another song, something of an "intro" to this new songbook I'm working on. A re-generation song of sorts, about gripping reality and being wary of what has happened, what is happening, and what to walk towards in the wake of recent events.

The last part of the song, starting with the repeated "This is begun", would be sort of an eruption of sorts....a song that boils and brews until it hits that point...sort of like live versions of "Bad" when he gets to the "not fade away". Then that ending is something jubilant in my head...something like a Lion-King-esque tribal beat in the back, a galloping rhythm....Its exciting.

    This Is Begun[/b
    ]
    I smell sulfur
    Like something’s happening
    Premonitions of a burn
    Like something’s happening

    Words like silence
    Teasing me
    Lies like power
    Teasing me

    Demons can’t be too careful…
    Don’t disturb denial
Or risk the clatter when the day breaks…
And you wake up on your isle

    This is begun (x4)

    So let it happen
    This is begun
Crash into beaches with these seas
    This is begun
    So don’t regret it
And don’t look too closely into the sun-
    This is begun.
  2. X

    Let’s imagine
That this is not the tenth time
Make up that we are make-believe

    Razor thin whispers
    On your candy lips
Chase their tails in these winds

    There’s a light on
    A light on
    There’s a light on
    But it’s not for me

    Let’s run away
    In opposite directions
    With intentions, not by mistake

    Wet cement again
    Waiting for impressions
    Glistens like a question

    There’s a light on
    A light on
    There’s a light on
    But it’s not for me

    That night spent
    Without colors, black and white
    Is creeping by

    I’ll ignore it
    If you’ll allow it
    And we’ll both go
    Back to wishing
    We were dreaming
    Making up
    That we were make believe

    There’s a light on
    A light on
But not for me, not for me
    Yes there’s a light on
    A light on
    There’s a light on,
    But not for me.
  3. Great work man! I like This Is Begun a lot!

I still can't figure out how to put music to lyrics. Like, I try messing around with chords and nothing works. Super frustrating.
  4. Thank you Just sort of opening up and seeing what comes out at this point.
  5. "Say Goodnight, It's Morning"

    Lyrical gymnastics
Steal the mind of a girl
    Flipside feeling normal
    Boy in an upside-down world

    Sideways we lie
    And we lie so blatantly
    Stay for one more song
    It repeats, repeats, repeats
    (chorus)
    Take me home
    You already are
    Let me go
Don’t have to get very far
    Take me back
    Murder the mystery
    Say goodnight
    It’s morning to me
    (post chorus)
    And its getting so early
And you’re so close to me
    We’re about to pay forever
For what we thought we took for free

    Everything is different
Yet it has to stay the same
    Defeat sings battle cries
While we refuse to change our names

    Guilt creeps in so slowly
You don’t know what to do
I’m terrified to stay, see what I’m
    Capable of doing to you

    Take me home
    You already are
    Let me go
Don’t have to get very far
    Take me back
    Murder the mystery
    Say goodnight
    It’s morning to me
    (post)
This air is dry as paper
    This room feels so real
    Grounded by architecture
Of how we’re supposed to feel

Your ways are lost on me
I don’t know how to change
    Our heads lie here together
Your heart’s so out of range
    Let me stay
    Where you are
    Don’t let me go
    I’ll fall so far
    Take me in
    Just let us be
    Say goodnight
    Its morning to me
    Say goodnight-
    Its still morning to me.
  6. Good news all! Working with a producer friend of mine to put music to and record some of my original lyrics!! Should be exciting to hear the end result, you guys will be the first!! Also, new lyrics:

There’s a girl on the block with her head in her hands
She’s crying and there’s no way to stop her.
She cries ‘cause she feels like she’s losing her man
And that he’d be better off if he dropped her

So I call out her name and I hold out my hand
But she don’t hear a thing ‘cos she’s cryin bout her man

What’s a guy to do with a broken girl
When she sits alone and cries and shuts out the world?
What’s a guy to do with a broken girl
When he’s gotta go and try to unfurl
    Her mind from her heart
    So that she can start
To get back on her feet and move forward
What’s a guy to do with a broken girl
When he’s watchin her cry and she’s his whole world

There’s a girl on the block and I don’t know why
But she’s always cryin’ in the corner
I wish she would stop and I will not lie
It’s because I just want to warn her

That I want her for mine if only she could
Just wipe her eyes we’d be doing real good

What’s a guy to do with a broken girl
When she sits alone and cries and shuts out the world?
What’s a guy to do with a broken girl
When he’s gotta go and try to unfurl
    Her mind from her heart
    So that she can start
To get back on her feet and move forward
What’s a guy to do with a broken girl
When he’s watchin her cry and she’s his whole world

    Oh baby
Take your head from you hands and see
    Oh baby
That if you’re looking for love then start looking for me

What’s a guy to do with a broken girl
When she sits alone and cries and shuts out the world?
What’s a guy to do with a broken girl
When he’s gotta go and try to unfurl
    Her mind from her heart
    So that she can start
To get back on her feet and move forward
What’s a guy to do with a broken girl
When he’s watchin her cry and she’s his whole world

  7. Ive written a lot of songs in the last few days. This is a place holder for me to remember to share some lyrics with you.
  8. http://soundcloud.com/hjwoj/the-vulture-demo

Very short taster of a song I've begun to concoct this evening. Train ride home conjured up some (unexpected) ideas which I've tried to channel into something cohesive. At the moment it's just 50 secs of noise, but I've got hopes for it!
  9. THAT IS SO COOL!

  10. Ah dude you've just made my evening we all know how long it takes me to write anything, so you can imagine how stoked I am lol. Really keen to take this somewhere. Am going to try and sling lyrics together and see what happens.

Ok, so, here's a full-length take of what started up last night. Thoughts gladly appreciated. Everything about it is fairly raw and messy (particularly the vocals/lyrics), but I've decided to stop trying to expect perfection when I don't even have a fully-fledged idea to aim for. Like most of my stuff, it's more about capturing an initial feeling/mood than anything else particularly cogent...so, if you listen to it and get the idea of a dying man stumbling through the desert, sun glaring down and vultures gathering overhead, I've managed that! :)

In case you can't work out what the hell I'm burbling:

    The burnt horizon
    Melts and grows
    Mirages come
    Mirages go

    The sun is beating down
    Merciless rays
    Blisters the skin
    The land is on fire

    We've walked this way before
    Again and again
    The dunes and the sand
    Lie in wait

    I see them circling
    Their time is near
    We've got nothing left
    It's all they're gonna need
  12. I think this track has huge potential. I love your guitar tone, it's freakin' powerful, like distorted ambience. I can hear a chorus where the rhythm picks up, you have a double-time feel, and you get some harmonies in there, and this could be a real winner. Great job, Harry.
