1. I wouldn't mind an inclusion of albums too. I'd help with that.
  2. Im all for it, dont know which form we should give it.

I'm a list freak so I try to keep track of my favourite songs, my list has changed since last year. But I dont know if that goes for others.

We could do another song toplist or a album toplist. I prefer the first one, but I dont know what you guys think about it.
  3. album .. and the winner is ... Achtung Baby!
i think album would be better and more interesting, for me at least hehe .. and also for a change
  4. My favourite songs still the same

maybe Albums ...it will be more difficult ( for me ) but i would be a new list
  5. I don't think an album edition would be very interesting. We all know Achtung Baby, The Joshua Tree and most likely Dark Side of the Moon will be in the Top 3. Moreover, times have changed and not many people listen to albums in full anymore (I do, though).

We should change the concept a bit.
    - Sorting by genre. (rock, soundtrack, hiphop)
    - Sorting by decade. (80s, 90s, 00s)
    - Sorting by lyrical theme. (love, war, sex)
    - Sorting by picking a few artists and making a list of their best songs. (Michael Jackson, Pearl Jam, Madonna)

Your are right ...not many people listen to albums in full anymore, but i could be good anyway

For the list , my vote is :

    - Sorting by decade. (80s, 90s, 00s)
-Sorting by picking a few artists and making a list of their best songs. (Michael Jackson, Pearl Jam, Madonna)

The others are very subjective. For example one song for you is about love and for me is about other thing...many songs have many interpretations.
The same with genres ...some bands can be inone or two or not in some genres ...that will be very debatable
  7. I think there are a lot of album listeners left here. Maybe we could make top tens and only be allowed to have an artist once (or perhaps twice).
  8. What about theme lists like:
    - Best album
    - Best Coldplay song
    - Best motion picture soundtrack
    - Best singer/songwriter
    - Best 2012 song
    - Best 2012 album
    - Best 2012 debute

Seems like a nice solution too me. Bart and I could release one list a day...

I see your point but we all knew that "Streets" and "Bad" would top the song list last year.

    Thats true.

And making more lists than one isnt really special And the U2start Toplist should be veeerryyyy special.

If you ask me we could do another Toplist or an album list. And perhaps, like Fabian said, a list per decade.
  11. How about a main list of songs, similar to last year but exclude U2 from those nominations. Then allow each member to submit two optional lists - a top 10/20/25 U2 tracks and a top 10/20/25 albums?

If you keeep the same restrictions from last year, only one nomination per artist in a list of 10, 10 nominations for a list of 100, I think U2 would be kept minimal in the album list.

    So we'd have:

    - Top Songs (Excluding U2)
    - U2 Songs
    - Albums

EDIT: Oh, and thank God this is back!
  12. My views:
    - The exact same as previous year seems too boring for a second run.
    - 2012 only lists for songs or albums will make it more of an 'end of year' event.
    - There is nothing wrong with U2 dominating the Toplist. Visitors of the topic could just ignore the U2 songs. I mean, splitting the lists like Tim proposed adds not that much, while it may mean more work for Bart and me.
    - Sorting by decade would lead to six lists. Moreover, it would be harder to make a list, because it may be needed to look up the date of release.
    - List like 'Best hiphop song' and 'Best soundtrack' would be very interesting, because these topics are rare on the forum.
    - Bart's argument that more lists make it less special is invalid. The Grammys are special too, though there are like fifty prizes each year.
