  1. Either way,I would much rather see U2 (and any bad actually) in an arena than a stadium.But thats just me.Like I said,if you dont have a good seat at a stadium show,its awful.

    Stadium shows,for me at least,are more of an event.U2 didnt seem to mind playing 7 shows in the fall of 2005 at MSG.I dont think its really all about the $$,its about the time.1 show at the New Medowlands Stadium can hold 80,000 fans.They would have to play 4 nights at MSG to equal that.The price of the ticket is similar,and fans like me, will attend more than 1 night at MSG.

    I think most fans, of any band,would rather see a show in a smaller setting.

    360 actually did a good job of compensating for what would normally be called "poor seats." If you were up front in GA like I was for Anaheim 2, you got a great view of the band as they walked around, but you pretty much missed out on everything going on with the screens. If you're seated in the back, you got to experience The Claw in its true glory. Some of the people I talked to said they did 360 twice, once in GA and once in the stands and each time was a completely different experience. I honestly doubt there were any "bad seats" at all in 360, especially since some of those nosebleed seats were cheaper than any U2 arena ticket (probably by about half as mentioned before).

    Plus, it really depends on the venue. Angel's Stadium isn't a football stadium. It's a baseball stadium. That makes it inherently smaller than most stadiums and therefore a more intimate show. Likewise, I'm sure there are arenas that are oddly shaped or with really crappy acoustics such that poor seats exist.

    But I will have to disagree with your statement that most fans would rather see a show in a smaller setting. It really depends on the act. With U2, I would actually rather see them in a larger venue as opposed to a smaller one. Either that or they have to make their arena show seem "big." For The Killers, I would rather see them in an arena because I know they don't bring a big flashy stage with them on tour.
  3. There were no bad views on 360. It's the sound that can be crap. But for $30 you can't really complain. Opinions differ. Give me 1 leg in arenas then the following summer in stadiums. Grand
  4. I have seen U2 many time in arena shows,and many stadium shows.For me,the arena shows are so much better.It depends on what you prefer and where your seats are.

    A friend of mine was in the nosebleeds in Philly (2011) for 360.The band were the size of "ants",and all he did was watch the screen.He said he felt "detached from the show".I was fortunate for my 6 360 shows.I had either lower tier seats,or GA.

    It all depends on your taste.
  5. I felt detached from the band at Croke 2 but still had great fun just taking in the spectacle and the singalongs. Croke 3 was cheap seats again but I felt right in it. I don't need to. If you want close you get GA, and GA is the same in arenas as it is in stadiums.

    The sense of proximity and closeness of an arena show can't be matched by any stadium. Even the first GA rows are closer on an arena due to barriers being lower and gaps being smaller than on stadiums.

    There was a pretty large gap between the GA and the center circle. It's also a lot higher than it looks. But as for the outer ring, I was close enough to give Bono a handshake at times.

    If they play arenas next, I would probably do GA again or try to get the best seat I can afford, depending on my budget and my schedule at the time.

What ever happened to the U2 that only made a profit thanks to T-Shirt sales on the Zoo tour? They spent their own money putting on the show and barely made a profit ticket-wise because they wanted to enable all of their fans to be able to afford tickets.

    Someone remind me how much profit U2 made on the last tour again? Christ.


    Scalpers? I went to SIX 360 shows, and you could get in for next to nothing at them all. The scalpers were lucky to get face value. There were people within 30 minutes of showtime holding up fistfulls of tickets. Since I am almost always walking in for shows either after the opening act or within 10 minutes of the main act, I see this at a lot of shows. For Veritigo, it was a small arena, and you had to pay tons to get in, but I could not give away an extra ticket in Baltimore for 360, until the last second, when I sold my extra field level seat for $35.

    Funny enough, while I was in the GA line, I met a group who had a couple people decide they wanted to do GA last minute. The guys told them to get in line in spite of the fact that they had no tickets. Just like clockwork, they were approached by a guy who had 3 extra GA tickets he was looking to sell and managed to snag 2 for $60. Scalpers were having a bad time, that's for sure.
