  1. I thought this would be a interesting topic: How will U2start sharing live concerts and U2dvds fair for 2013? I find it more and more difficult to download and share using rapidshare, megaupload and even finding trackers for the U2torrents. Could our, always increasing, collection of more than three decades of U2 be shut down or even loss this year?

  2. Shut down? Maybe. Lost? Never. Most of the crew members have many or all of our bootlegs stored in digital or physical formats, so a big crashdown or hosting servers' deletion would only affect us in the sense that uploading 300 GBs of audio material (counting only audio bootlegs in mp3) is a f* pain in the arse. New hosting servers and file sharing services will always appear and we will use those that serve our purposes the best.

  3. Why would the entire collection be lost this year in specific?

  4. I heard the Mayan apocalypse was delayed some months due to bureaucracy, permissions not given, etc...

  5. Since file hosters may fall over. Internally we have talked a bit about what would happen if RS dies. It will definitely change a lot of things, but we had some ideas to stay alive.

    We hope it doesnt come so far, since we are still pretty happy with the services of Rapidshare.
  6. Rapidshare has been pretty good to us, ever since we started using their services in 2006, I see no reason why that would change in 2013. Mediafire is a good back-up, as our torrents are. Still haven't ran into any service that matches Rapidshare or Mediafire in terms of stability, (free) availability and retention. (suggestions welcome)

    Should it ever come as far as you mention, all the bootlegs are mirrored to multiple locations. Worst case scenario means we'll probably have to live without bootlegs for a few weeks. That's manageable!

  8. There could potentially be a Dropbox for U2Start, where shows were requested and people could grab them while they were dropped in, and then they could be removed after they had been retrieved.

    You could always keep the U2Start Top 10 Most Downloaded Shows + the bootleg of the month in there as well.

    Dropbox is cool. Can people use it all over the world or is it just a US thing?
  9. I use Dropbox on a daily basis and it works great. Not sure which policy they have regarding to bootlegs though.

  10. They would certainly frown upon the things I use it for on a daily basis much more than live concert recordings, and they've never said anything.

    There's a screen of my DB folder at the moment, just full of albums that haven't been released yet
