And I stand behind a release of Mothers because it sounded amazing. Plus, we have no official recordings of Mothers performed live whereas the Chicago DVD version of 40 is, in my mind, the gold standard of what 40 should sound like. But in all honesty, I think they put 40 there because they need a "show closer" on the CD.

I still don't really know where all of these mistakes are being heard. It just sounds a bit raw and again, like they hadn't rehearsed it. It still sounds fine to me..

I agree about Chicago, it's fantastic. As for the show closer thing, I dunno. I got the sense when they played it it was a special moment for them too, so I'm not surprised it's on there. It IS Edge's picks, maybe he's not a super huge fan of Mothers as much as he is 40? After all, he gets to play bass on 40
  2. With you on that, sounds great to me aswell

To me it makes it all the more special because it's obvious they hadn't played it for a long time (maybe not even practised it) and it was only played the one time. People go nuts over a version of Mothers that doesn't even sound fully fleshed-out but hate on 40. Cut it some slack! It works well on Edge's Picks.
  3. Hello everyone...has an album cover been posted on this site for the
    CD?
  4. geez, can't stop listening to Electrical Storm...it's been nearly 2 weeks and so many listens and I still love it like the first time. Even the sort of different arrangement is lovely...hope they do it again next tour so that I can see it

It may be the worst performance of "40" I have ever heard. Still, better than there just being 14 tracks on the disc. I wish somebody would explain to U2 that there are 80 minutes of room on a CD, and that they should use it all. Imagine 3 discs of 75-79:57 discs for U22, which could have simply been called U2360, and Edge's picks could also be filled up. Oh well, I'm still very happy with what I have. With downloads slowly killing Cds, I would think the industry would do whatever is possible to make CD purchases more attractive.
  6. In the long run (like a decade or two from now) it will be a shame that six of these tracks haven't been burned into physical form. I'll take the digital download but...
  7. Does anyone got a download site for the bonus songs? Send me a mail!
