    I love the string arrangements in this song. But who died at the end - did anyone work it out?

  3. One of their finest ballads, then. I love ballads (yes, I'm a bit soppy in that way...) so this was unbelievable the first time I ever heard it like 10 years ago or so. Amazing song.

  6. First heard it on the 1980s compilation - far and away one of their best and one of my favourites. Simple, powerful, beautiful, raw.
  7. Live renditions of this song are always powerful. Personally not too big a fan of the studio version. It lacks the big opening sound that the live version has (refer to Slane).

    Agree re. live versions - harness the magic even more. Listened to Glenn Campbell's cover the other day - very good but not sure whether I liked it or not?
