"This did not feel like a reunion show. This wasn't a reunion show. This was a healthy,well-rehearsed,inspired group of musicians doing what they do best -- not what they feel obligated to do."
How true is that !!!
"Spoonman was the low point of the set, and the only performance that felt perfunctory. They seemed about as tired of hearing the song as the DJs at the End. It reminded me of Pearl Jam's disappointing run through "Daughter" at KeyArena. It is possible for a band to keep over-played hits fresh (Beck's slide guitar on "Loser" comes to mind),but they have to want to.PJ didn't want to play "Daughter," and I don't think Chris Cornell wants to feel the rhythm with your hands anymore. That's OK. Maybe he shouldn't."......
Ouch,I didnt feel this way when they played Spoonman at my Hammerstein gig.. as far as PJ at the Key Arena,I assume he means the 09.21.09 gig.IMO,the Philly and LA 4 night stands blew the 2 Seattle gigs out of the water...
Both Spoonman and Daughter sounded great at their respective concerts that I attended relatively recently. I was into it and the bands seemed to be fine.
PJ doesn't play Daughter THAT often these days - maybe every two or three shows. I suppose SG could get away with not playing it virtually every night. The play the "big three" from BMF just as much and for longer...and how could they be THAT sick of these songs. They've only started playing them a couple of years ago after a decade and a half of not doing so!
If they do announce some/many Euro dates (and they should) that's going to keep Matt Cameron busy. Maybe that's why PJ isn't comitting to shows in June or August????? Come to think of it, they haven't committed to any shows in the fall either.
In any case, the cities of Europe (and the rest of the world) deserve to hear them perform songs from King Animal - and they shouldn't leave it for too long!
I have a feeling Soundgarden will tour Europe in August and play a mixture of festival dates and headlining shows. I think Reading and Leeds will be on the cards. At least I'm hoping so.
