Radiotherapy has begun. After a full MRI scan and CT were done a week ago, the radiologist made a mask of my head, a semi-liquid plastic-like substance that was put around my head, covering face, ears etc completely and then dried and became hard as stone. That mask is now put on my head every day in the clinic, it squeezes the life out of me but it has to be like that to keep my head in place, and then I lie down and in a session of 10 minutes, the computer thingies move around my head and shoot the high frequent radiation into my head, aiming for the remains of the tumour.

I have now 4 sessions behind me,went to the clinic Tuesday to Friday. A 3 hours trip every day, with taxi lift and all.
23 daily sessions are still to come, 27 sessions altogether. Should be finished by the end of April. Fun times. Not. There are side effects of course and I begin to feel the first of them. But it has to be done.

I feel sick, to be true, physically and emotionally. But I made up a simple plan :-) for every 2 sessions that I face Joe get through and finish, I reward myselm with 1 ticket for the next U2 tour...,with 27 sessions, I get 13 gigs and a bonus shirt :-D ;-) see, just be silly enough to get yourself where you wanna be :-) 360¤ had me present for 13 times, why not again... Bring the tour on in 2014 ;-)

Alright, that's it. Keep going here, my u2start family, I'll be back soon. Enjoy these precious days without my nonsense, I'll be back once this part of treatment is done. Walk On :-)

Thanks much for the update, Kirsten! Yep yep yep, that's the right way to think about it U2 will be on tour soon enough, and number of concerts = n sessions/2 sounds like the correct equation!! All best wishes for these difficult weeks... we are and we will all be thinking of you!!

    All the best,

    Julien

I am so sad to hear this. You probably didnt see me much on the forum, but I did come along your posts more than a few times.

Now you have to fight an unwanted evil, but it is a fight and you can win this fight. Kick the darkness till it bleeds day light.
  11. That's awful. It's scary really, how cancer just strikes people seemingly at random. It's one of the world's big injustices. Fight back, we'll stand with you.

I cannot but share Remy's thoughts, Emiel. My thoughts are with you, too -- this is an unbelievably difficult time indeed. I sincerely hope you will win this battle! All very best wishes.
