Bono did say "Adelaide, we'll see you next time" when they were in Melbourne for the 360 shows, fingers crossed that happens.

Even though it entirely sucks, sometimes if it's a band you truly want to see - you have to do a bit of traveling. Who else did Adelaide miss out on this year? Aerosmith, ZZ Top as two I can think of.

  2. I could see them playing China perfectly. I think you mean this by the Russian disrespect towards Human Rights, but Human Rights are violated sistematically in the United States too (death penalty and torture anyone?) and no one says anything about it I don't want to get too political, but your statement is basically wrong.
  3. absolute +1

(they also played in Turkey .. Israel, Chile, South Africa, USA (ops you already named it hehe) .. and so?)
  4. Yeah, I was going to say Turkey and Israel too. Yep, completely invalid argument.
  5. The Chinese Government would not allow them to play in their country because U2 performed at the Tibetan Freedom Concert in 1997.
  6. that can easily be .. Oasis weren't allowed .. Bob Dylan played there though .. he didn't take part of that concert (if i'm not wrong) still he's not surely a comfortable charachter
  7. Kraftwerk have recently been told that they can't perform at a Chinese festival because they played Tibetan in 1998.

I personally don't have a problem with the death penalty if you've taken someone's life. Or with torture if you aren't revealing vital information.

Yeah travelling to see a band from Adelaide to Melbourne surely can't be that bad? I mean, I know it sucks that you don't get the bands, but at least you're close enough to places to travel to see bands. When I'm in Darwin it's not that easy/cheap to travel to see a band. When I was living there in January it was about $1000 all up for me to go to BDO on the Gold Coast... Adelaide to Melbourne must surely be cheaper than that haha!

I don't really feel all that bad for you because there are a lot of other people in your shoes too. I live in Canada but no big acts come to Newfoundland. We are an island in the east Atlantic; so when I saw U2 twice we had to go to Toronto which cost a couple of thousand dollars by the time you take in air fare, tickets, hotel, spending money etc.
  11. Yeah good old newfoundland.. I remember reading about the old transatlantic cable and newfoundland. Sucks having to spend so much, but at least U2 in North America is closer to you than they are to us in Australia! It's a long way from Australia to go and see U2 if they don't tour out here.

Wow! Most people have NO idea where it is!
