    ROTFL

Yes, the 10 Reasons bullshit has been circulating for months now.

  4. Hello everyone! It's been a long, long, while but I am back! The hard drive on my laptop died about a month ago and I've been running on a very slow netbook since then, so I haven't had the time to keep up with the forums.

Fortunately, I've got a new lightning-fast laptop and I'm ready for U2 to release their next album (see how my over-zealous intro was related to the topic at hand). From what I've been reading, it seems like the timeline is new album in 2013, tour in 2014. If this happens, my prediction will have been right on. Do we have any more specific details regarding the progress of the album?

I've read some pretty troll April 1st jokes, but some of them just took things a bit beyond the realm of believability. For example, there was an article saying that Brandon Flowers was going to disband The Killers after their tour, clearly over the top.

Now if somebody said that U2 decided to push up their timeline and that we should expect a new album before the start of summer, that would truly be cruel.
  7. Interesting article here on Triple M's Sydney site:

    http://www.triplem.com.au/sydney/music/news/ultra-rare-acdc-and-metallica-master-tapes-to-be-destroyed/

If you're a fan of legendary rocks bands such as AC/DC, U2, and Metallica, to name but just a few, do we have a collector's item for you.

Our spies tell us that the legendary Irish recording studio, Windmill Lane, will start destroying a pile of original master tapes featuring famous songs by even more famous artists. Among the tapes are such rarities as an early version of AC/DC’s Thunderstruck, or Metallica performing with Marianne Faithfull.

Of course, if rock 'aint your thing, there's also Spice Girl demo tapes, early Riverdance demos, film music by composer Michael Nyman and soundtracks from films including Michael Collins, The Commitments, The Mask and The Talented Mr Ripley.

Reports suggest the tapes weigh a tonne, and are clogging up much needed attic space in the new Windmill Lane studios, in Ringsend. Hence the May deadline to get rid of them.

Admittedly, most of these tapes are demos, and are apparently of questionable quality. Still, for the AC/DC fan in your life who has everything, how could you go wrong with a master tape featuring an early version of Thunderstruck? We ask you.

A full list of acts who recorded at the studios can be seen at the Windmill Lane website.

I wonder if there's any interesting stuff by U2 that's never surfaced.
  8. Sounds interesting. I guess they are actually selling these tapes?
  9. Someone should try calling them, use the album outtakes thread and see what's available. I might, actually.

  10. Please do! I'd be very interested to know if we/I can get our hands on something that they're otherwise going to throw out.
  11. Well they're asking the respective artists to come forward and claim the tapes. If they don't, then the studios will start destroying them in May.
