They've got enough material left over from the SoA sessions and plus some new stuff they've written or even still have left over from ATYCLB or HTDAAB (Mercy any one?) that they should have one polished off by now.

    Pop - ATYCLB = 3 years
    ATYCLB - HTDAAB = 4 years
    HTDAAB - NLOTH = 4 years
NLOTH - new album = 4 years already verging on 5.

    JUST GET IT OUT.

If a new album will be released in late 2013, it will be a 4,5 year gap. Now look at those numbers. The gap isn't that big considering the three years of touring and the age of the band. Even a five year gap would be ordinary.
  2. as you put Passengers, then put Spiderman too
  3. Uh, it's huge. The longest of their career. Or second longest. W/e. Look at what the longest gap of their career bought for us.. NLOTH. Sick. Yeah they toured for 3 years, but boy, they had a lot of time off too. Their age isn't really relevant considering there is four in the band called U2, who all collaborate and write songs. Look at Bruce Springsteen. 63, writes albums on his own, tours harder than U2 do and he's put as many albums out in the last 5 years as U2 have this millenium.
  4. Yeah but as they get longer, they get more overproduced.
  5. I could sit here, create a song and tweak it for five months - I usually do. It would sound overproduced - as they do.

Get in a room, write some lyrics, play some music, mix and put it out. It's not that hard. It's not like you're Axl Rose who takes 177 years to put together 70 minutes of music with 183 musicians. Four guys should be able to put something quality together in six weeks.

  6. Jup, like I said since all the rumours began to come up. Since 2000 U2 always take to much time to make an album, then overproduce it and release it.
And then it sounds like shit, for 70%

  7. Nope, just describing a band that records like a band, not like a Pro-Tools disaster.

Agreed on both counts. How much of ATYCLB and HTDAAB combined does anyone actually really like?

(I love NLOTH more than those albums combined, so yeah).
  8. Between ATYCLB and HTDAAB, I like every track except One Step Closer. ATYCLB and HTDAAB are probably the two most underrated albums within the older U2 community because they are the most different from the U2 they probably grew up with. For me, ATYCLB and HTDAAB were the U2 I grew up with, so naturally those two are my favorite albums.

I grew up with those two albums too.... But after I got into the earlier U2, I noticed that they were waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay beter before 2000 (As in albums)

There are some good songs on those albums, ATYCLB has Beautiful Day and uuhmmm..... Beautiful Day, HTDAAB has City and Sometimes.

ATYCLB is the most overated U2 album imo, everything sounds so overproduced with as the best example Kite, which is a great live song but is just so terrible on the album.
