The shows have always been different from one night to another but it's the 'reunion'era from 1999 where it's just gone a bit mad. And the sign phenomenon has taken it to a whole new level in the last few years. On his own on the devils and dust tour it was clearly a case of he had set points within the concert but how he navigated the in between bits was down to him and what he fancied playing or could remember. He's not alone though mccartney regularly does nearly 40 song sets - admittedly there's only minor differences from night to night or more specifically where there are multiple shows in a city Elton john tends to change it up a bit, Prince too although there are huge sections of prince's back catalogue that he won't play. It's a regular thing for prince to do a 2-2.5 hour gig and then go on to a smaller venue the same night and play up to another 1.5 hours. At the opposite end try being a sting fan he's basically spent the last nine years with the same set list. This comes from someone who claims to get bored easily and want to be challenged musically (but not by his bank manager obviously). Just to put this thought out there are U2 up to performing a long show particularly Bono's voice couldn't hold up to three hours a night and are they capable musically - if you listen to rehearsals and soundchecks they can be a bit all over the place on even common stuff sometimes. If there's a sudden request for shadows and tall trees god knows what might happen - are they willing to look stupid Bruce clearly couldn't care less - he's done it to the band himself, changing the opening song between the lights going out and getting to the microphone. Bruce clearly has a great method for getting the requested songs lyrics on to the teleprompter but would that have been feasible for Bono wandering a stadium on 360? personally i think Bruce is on a mission to play everything at least once. We need his reaction to requests of songs only on bootlegs though - cos if he's got those on the teleprompter we need the teleprompter to see what else he's got on there.

That is very interesting .... sure Bono can t do a 3 hours show ...but maybe they can rotate some songs ...

I want to be a bigger fan of Bruce to enjoy that madness shows differents . I ahve a lot of boot from my favourites bands but no one made that lot of changes on their setlists

  2. also helped by the fact he didn't have to promote any album (i'm not counting Tracks of course) in that tour .. similar at what happens with some PJ mini-tours and no album behind .. 2005-2011-2012 for example.
less "extemporaneous songs" (requests) for PJ though

beware .. it could become a dangerous but very amazing tunnel hehehe

  4. hehehe i know.... i have a problem in my life called U2 ....

  5. Understandable.

I am constantly amazed on this forum by the knowledge that some members have that stretches across various artists. I can only keep up with U2 haha. I love a lot of Springsteen material and own all of his studio albums, but I come in here and feel like a newcomer still

Totally. Same about Pearl Jam and others. I am this big of a fan of U2, Coldplay and Muse... But Bruce's world is totally different, bigger, older, deeper... In the current tour, he plays an average of 5 songs per show that I don't know - and I consider myself a fan!
  7. It's easy to know all Coldplay songs with 5 albums and a static setlist

  8. Queuing...
  9. One for all, all for one!!

try juggling about 20 obsessions - there aren't enough hours in the day.

seriously, don't be harsh on yourself(ves) whatever some people might have you believe not knowing, for example the differences between take one and take 42 (not a joke, the released one) of candy's room may not be a bad thing. No i don't know the differences in them all either.
